In response to Brady's review of the season finale.
I really wanted to have a "previously on" because these breaks between episodes were quite irritating and do mess things up a lot for readers, but I'm glad you were less confused as the teaser went on. As for Helena, I've been dying to have her back as the Huntress. Looking forward to writing her story arc in the third season. xD
Hahaha. Dinah's entire role in the episode was going to be cut, but then I found a stronger purpose for it, and managed to weave it in- she's not a huge part of the finale, but for the scenes she is in, they're important. I wanted to- not so much play on the "another character is dying" but keep the suspense and intensity level up throughout the majority of the episode. There are slower moments- but I wanted to start off with a bang, and end with one too.
I loved writing Guido so damn much. I missed having him in the middle of the battle, or having a sweet scene with him and Helena- its hard for me to really come to terms with him actually being gone. Maybe Helena can be severely messed up for next season, and keeps seeing his ghost or something- hahaha. Who knows.
Moira was another pivotal part of the story that didn't have a whole lot of focus. There's a certain extent to her story that I left out- something that was just too much exposition but will be tackled next season. Her leaving with Hope, and taking on that responsibility- there's more to that, and so I'm looking forward to showing it in the following season.
That flashback was there purely because Chloe and Oliver have had so much tragedy in their lives lately that I really missed writing a nice, happy scene between them. Also, I liked the idea of foreshadowing his send off with him saying he could never forget Chloe.
Hahaha. Perry has been through so much, and he idolizes Watchtower, and Chloe, and to see that building collapse, and Chloe walk out of his life- its very, very difficult for him. Despite all he's been through, those two things hit the hardest and it drives him towards that gun. As for Vicki, I wanted to go back to the core of her character- she's a hero supporter, and she believes in these heroes. And one of her heroes- her journalistic heroes- is Perry. So to have her step in and really serve as his voice of reason... it was something I wanted to do. It also showed that Perry has someone looking out for him when Chloe can't be.
I've had a blast writing TDK/Gordon scenes. Establishing that partnership was one of my main goals of the season once I decided to introduce that character, and I'm glad to have been able to build up to that. Looking forward to writing more of those two for the third season. XD
There were so many different ways that Oliver was going to bow out- different triggers, at least. Primarily, he was going to forget Chloe- that was the important thing. But right up until the very end, I was trying to figure out the perfect way to do it. Bringing Emil in really helped, and I'm kind of proud that I was able to link this episode up with certain flash forward moments of the previous season's finale. It was a lot harder to write than I thought though because I love Chlollie, and I love writing Oliver. Gonna miss it.
*evil laugh* About Hush... I'm making quite a series of extreme changes to the character- obviously there's that whole mystery behind "who is behind the mask" so clearly, to keep that aspect of the show, I need to do something very different, have someone different, and I have quite a handful of twists and turns regarding him. You can look him up, there's quite a few great storylines involving him- the "Batman: Hush" comic book is my favourite batman comic book eveeeer. And hopefully I do him justice, and he makes the third season incredibly epic. XD
Thank you so much, Brady! Your reviews have always been a pleasure to read, and I truly appreciate all the time you've taken out of your days to read, review, and give me the feedback to keep writing and keep the show alive. Thank you! XD

In response to Chris' review of the season finale.
Wow. Thank you, Chris! I hope you enjoy this next season just as much as you enjoyed this one. Your feedback means a great deal to me as you're a huge part of what inspires me, and I think you're freaking amazing too, so thank you! XD
I struggled. Haha. Once I made it past the ninth episode of the season, I realised I beat my previous record (with FtVS) so I was hoping I'd be able to keep it going, and I'm so glad to be done with a 22 episode season.
This episode had very distinct subplots and roles for each character, so I really wanted to begin and end this episode showing where they started in the finale and where they ended up in a montage-esque sequence. As for the voiceover, considering this was very Chloe-centered, and really focused on her journey, and her future, I wanted to have her sort of guide us through it, set it up, and close it off. I'm really glad you liked it- I didn't want to go too berserk with it. At one point, it was going to be featured in each act, but I thought that would be too much. I also didn't want it to be too obvious that she would be dying at the end of the episode as it was a tool that really set that up. But yeah, I'm glad you liked it!
Hahaha. I love writing Dinah. This episode focused a great deal on the idea of the future, and what that entails and holds- and I have some pretty big threats coming in throughout the rest of the series- this sort of sets up the fact that Dinah is being recruited for something down the line that is going to need an army to go against it. The surprise of Alexandra... well, I just loved writing her in "Rogue" that I wanted to bring her back, and I felt that it would do a nice job of setting up Dinah's future role on the show, as well as coming full circle with the "search of her mother" plot that sparked in this back half.
I loooooooove writing Alfred. I wish I could do more with his character- like you said, he can't really be the main focus but that's what's great about him- he shares these quiet, emotionally driven moments that really affect the characters around him. And we've seen that with Bruce and Selina. I'm hoping to have him branch out to other characters, and really give him more story to work with, but primarily, he is an extension of Bruce, and his role as Batman, and extremely tied to his story.
Hahahaha. Thank you! *bows* She totally should, right?! I'd pay to see that. Love Allison Mack!! CLEARLY. Hahaha. I really wanted to have a nice moment between them- there's so much tragedy in their lives, I missed writing happy, adorable moments and so I needed to throw one in.
HAHA. I felt like things would be heightened for Oliver considering I revealed he would be leaving in the finale- so I wanted to toy with people's minds there. The explosion was more of a collapse, so there was more a chance of him surviving- he had quite extensive injuries, but he survived, and I thought it was more realistic than the room around him exploding, and him surviving. But yes, that particular Watchtower building is no longer THE headquarters- and we'll see a new base of operations next season.
Karl always said he wanted a catfight, and even though that wasn't the purpose for that set up (as much as it was to show that Vicki cares about journalism, and cares about the place that she works at that she's spending her time protecting the archives, and protecting the building itself), it was nice to see a little bit of a catfight there- however brief.
In terms of Perry, a huge part of this episode focused on hope (as well as the future) and there are many tools to that throughout the episode- for Perry, his hope was to really end it all. He's been through so much, he's lost quite a lot, and he feels as though he isn't moving forward, he's standing still, and constantly running- from death, of all things. And so watching the city fall around him, that gun is looking more and more tempting.
I love writing Emil!! For him, I promised myself I would give him only five episodes, and give him a good wrap up- I really enjoyed his episodes ("Identity", "Fear", "Arkham", "War" parts 1 and 2) but then it came to planning the finale, and I really wanted to utilize his visions. As we know, he saw that Chloe wasn't a martyr and wasn't destined to die, that she has her own destiny. Yet, at the end of this episode, we see Chloe die. So there's a lot of stuff to deal with there, and see what exactly he meant by his words, and see how that comes to play later in the series. Was her destiny to help jump start Bruce's journey as Batman in the right direction (as well as his feud with The Joker)? Was her destiny to give birth to Hope? Was her destiny to save Gotham in its darkest hour?
As for "cutting before we find out", I wanted to play the kind of BtVS finale route where Buffy has this big speech but it cuts out when she's like "this is what we're gonna do", and then come back to it when she has that realisation that she can make it, that Emil was wrong, that she can have a family, and have that life for Hope. XD
When I introduced Vicki, she came in as this damsel in distress, hero-supporter. Her main arc for the season was very much to create and develop an inner strength, and so the scene between Chloe and Vicki later on in the episode was my favourite to write. I wrote a similar scene that I cut from "Hunt" and used here as the season came to close. But, back on Vicki/Perry, I wanted to sort of show that he might not have Chloe by his side every day, turning in articles, asking for advice, and giving her own, but he still has someone looking out for him, and ready to take care of him. And its sort of to set up the fact that Chloe was dying in this one- he isn't alone, he has Vicki there to support him, to believe in him. It was important for that decision of whether to pull or not pull the trigger to be Perry's. Vicki just needed to steer him in the right direction. I'm really glad you liked that scene. Vicki will have a larger role next season. xD
HAHAHA. I desperately wanted to write Guido. I already missed him- I don't even wanna think about his death. I was numb writing that- just couldn't. So it was nice to have him back, even if it wasn't really him, and he was just a total ass and freaking Helena out and stuff, hahaha. It was important to me to have Helena in a life threatening situation for the majority of the episode- it was set up that someone Chloe loved would "die" as one of the two options, and so I wanted to keep Helena in that playing field of 'it could be her.' That, and she's Brady's favourite character, so I needed to give him some suspense (hehehehe).
Aww. I'm soooooorry. Hahaha. Don't hate me! What I wanted to be sure of in this send off was to keep hope that he could come back, and he could remember, and that things may not be completely over. In the future (shown in "Apocalypse"), Oliver was 'Darkwatch' and had his entire memory of Chloe stripped. But, reunited, it flooded back. I wanted to set up the fact that love is a feeling, it isn't a memory, and it doesn't get stripped away with a mind wipe. As much as I hate mind wipes, I hope this one felt different and less annoying like the majority of mind wipes do.
This was a hard scene for me, purely because Chloe just lost the man she loved, and she was straight back into business. Also running through her head from this point onwards was that "things are falling into place, I'm going to die like Emil told me." So I needed that level of denial, and her pulling away from The Dark Knight. By the way, I'm so sick of writing The Dark Knight- next season, he's Batman. It'll be official. THANK. CHRIST. But yeah, it was hard scene, but I loved it. I've always been a Chruce fan, both Batman/Chloe and Bruce/Chloe (not romantically speaking, but definitely scene wise- putting them together for scenes and stuff). Man, I'm so glad to hear this is your favourite episode- or one of. That means so much to me!! UGH. *hugs*
I added that line in on the final edit. I felt like the punchline of "Welcome to the Suicide Squad" was about to be overkill, so I wanted to counter it with a little humor, and I thought it suited Dinah's character to the dot. I'm glad you liked it, hahaha. I love Dinah so much. XD
Tehehehe. FINALLY! I get to use the floodlight. XD
I was so nervous about this scene. I didn't want Chloe to seem stupid, turning her back to the Joker and rambling about how all these opportunities can finally happen. But then again, The Joker wasn't laughing, he was on the ground, he was defeated, he had given up. And Chloe didn't know The Dark Knight was Bruce, so she didn't know she led him to The Joker, and with The Joker "defeated", she realised that there wasn't an opportunity to deliver Bruce to him- then, as she learns in her dying breath, she led him there after all. She was *THIS* close to having an "Alicia from Misfits" death scene, where she turns, smiling, and gets her throat slit. But I love Chloe- she needed some more grace, more of a fall and a revelation, rather than gore and horror. I would not be able to write that.
Interesting fact though, she died just like Jimmy Olsen in "Doomsday". Hahaha.
The wedding scene was something I wanted to do so badly, but I could never figure out how to do it. Then I thought the aisle could be symbolic of her journey, she's opened the doors, she's taken those first few steps, but she hasn't quite reached the end of the aisle yet. Its sort of saying "you're here, but you've got this much further to go." But then she dies, and that dream of reaching the end of the aisle to her happily ever after vanishes. So I really wanted to do that. XD
Hahaha. Yeah, he needs to get the Batman title already! It'll happen, first thing in the season premiere- I swear to god. I'm so sick of writing The Dark Knight. I just couldn't fit something in that would establish that name in this one- I planned to, but it was just so forced and blegh, I had to scrap it. I'm looking forward to having Bruce Wayne as the main lead, and focusing more on his story- he's taken those first steps to Batman, next season will have him as THE BATMAN, kicking ass, and ruling Gotham with a freak'n iron fist. Of course, he's gonna be miserable and depressed, but then he's gonna kick some ass, HAHAHA.
Thanks!! A show that I think uses voice overs really well is Grey's Anatomy, and I think they do it perfectly. Arrow sometimes gets iffy, but the latest episode had a good VO. Nikita does it pretty well- though I can't remember if its throughout the episode, or just at the beginning when she's like "AND NOW I'M GONNA TAKE THEM OUT. FROM THE INSIDE. NIIIKKIITTTAAAAA." Ahahaha. I'm so lame. Sorry. But yeah, thank you!!
"Anarchy" is my favorite episode of Watchtower so far!!
I freakin' love HUSH. I can't wait to tackle his story and reinterpret it for the "Smallville/Watchtower" universe. I'm really excited about it. Thank you so much for the feedback. I know you can't review every episode, but when we find time to talk, you always support the show, and listen to me rant about what I've got planned, and because I've been too busy to come online as often as usual, its nice to hear from you in these reviews. Your feedback means a great deal to me, and I can't wait for you to start posting episodes of stuff on the forum so I can give you huge reviews too, because I miss reading your awesome writing! You're an awesome friend, and thank you for all the feedback/support!! XD
He's an awesome villain. In order to keep the mystery and do my own version of "who is behind the mask", I have to change his story a bit, but I'm looking forward to mirroring and interpreting certain moments from the comics because they're just so awesome. He's gonna be THE big bad of S3. There's another big DC Comics villain character coming into the main cast that could pose as a threat too, which I'm doubly excited about- but yeah, its gonna be a big season, and hopefully a good one too. Jack Something Something Malone! This was by far my favorite episode of Watchtower! How you made everything just happen was so FREAKING AMAZING! And I have to say At the end. Selena's eyes opening wide when Hush says 'Hush...' was freaking awesome. I don't think you're done with her Thank you! Selina's storyline is definitely not over yet- but she will be in a more limited episode number next season to do her arc justice and give her the right amount of focus. There was a reason why Holly Robinson was taken by Hush, and that is part of what kickstarts the new season- figuring out why she was ripped from her home. That, and trying to find Selina. I'm really excited about the next season! Hush is one of my favourite Batman villains.

I've finally gotten the time to catch up with Watchtower over the last two days, and while I can't leave a few review for each of the episodes I've had to catch up on, I'm gonna leave a collective review for you. You've been such a loyal fan of the Outcasts and you've reviewed almost every episode, so I feel it's only right that I try and give the same encouragement and feedback that you've given me. That, of course, along with the fact that Watchtower was the first show I started reading on the VPN and it's been such a great series thus far.
I've gotta say, Jack, the first half of the season was amazing but you've really blown it out of the water with the second half. It's been such a wild, heartbreaking, and all around entertaining ride. You know how unfamiliar I am with the DC Universe, and how generally I don't much care for it, but you've managed to pull me into Watchtower and keep my interest in it despite not knowing so many of these characters. It's much less of a "DC Comics" show and more of just an amazing show that you've managed to produce here.
The Joker and Harley Quinn are two of my favorite people in the DC Universe, and perhaps the two I know the most about other than Batman (the irony there, I know). You've done such an amazing job with them in each episode they've appeared it. The way you did them was really captivating and enjoyable. The build up to the season finale was insane and intense, but that's what made it so great.
My favorite character through all of this has definitely been Chloe. Seeing how she handles all of this and everything that's going on around her, how her world is unraveling. It's heartbreaking, but amazing. You could really feel for her, especially in the last two episodes.
The season finale was so emotional, and you pulled everything off flawlessly. I'm not gonna lie, I cried more than once during that episode. The time and effort you put into this episode really shows, and left me with a lot of emotions -- none of them bad. I loved everything about the finale, how you built up to it and how you executed it. The tragedy of it all and again, the emotion in it. It was really powerful and there was never a dull moment in all the suspense and the action going on. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I feel like the finale has been a huge step in character development for all of these characters, and all the things you've hinted at for Season 3, they all make so much sense with the way the finale played out. A rough ride is ahead, I'm sure, but I'm excited for it. I can't wait to see how you unfold Season 3 and to see how this is going to effect everyone.
Again, I'm sorry I couldn't leave me detailed reviews for each episode, but I really wanted to leave something to let you know my thoughts and praise on your work with this last half of the season. I can't wait for Season 3, and you really did close this season out with a big, emotional bang. Well done, Jack. The finale gets a solid 10/10 from me. It's impossible to give it any less than a perfect rating.

I've gotta say, Jack, the first half of the season was amazing but you've really blown it out of the water with the second half. Thanks! I knew that I wanted to split the season into two distinctive halves that had different threats- but ultimately link in with one another. The start of the season was a bit shaky for me- Helena's path of "having a normal life" was hard to incorporate, and juggling all the characters was a bit overwhelming at first. I do feel that I had the back half more structured and stable in terms of the plot, characters, etc. I had fun with both halves, but things were much easier to write in the back half because there weren't many loose threads like at the beginning of the season. Aw, thank you Aimee!! I've really enjoyed writing them. I am always nervous when it comes to their lines and mannerisms and I tried to focus a great deal on that because they're iconic Batman villains- The Joker, more so than Harley Quinn. The response for these two has been flattering, and I'm so appreciative of all the great feedback because I stress a lot about those two. But they're so fun to write, so it was worth it. But ugh, you're too damn kind, hahaha. XD Wow, I'm really happy to hear that because I know there were times throughout the season where Chloe's actions weren't perceived as the intention to which I wrote it- which is awesome on its own, because I get feedback that I never expected, and get to look at things from new perspectives- but for Chloe, she's always been the one to sacrifice everything in order to do the right thing, and she grew selfish in her desire to turn her back on Gotham, and start her family with her daughter and Oliver, that she ultimately balanced that by making up for it in the finale, which was something I wanted to do. Wow, thanks. There were quite a handful of hard scenes to write- Oliver and Chloe's final scene in the hospital, the big death scene. Most of all, I found it painful to write Helena's part in the episode because I really loved writing for Guido, but ultimately, to really launch Helena forward in the series, it was something that had to be done. I really liked the idea of having Harley Quinn's story come full circle too- in that, The Joker broke her, got into her mind, and made her snap, and she did the same to Helena. We're gonna see the effects of that, and see how damaged she is after everything that has happened. She has a lot of scars that I'm really excited about looking at for the next season. XD Thanks, Aimee! I'm so excited to get started with the season, and get the premiere done. Thank you so much for the review- I'm so glad you enjoyed the finale. I'm incredibly grateful for all the feedback I've received for the finale, and the season as a whole, and it means a lot that you- one of the busiest people I know- left me something to smile about. Thanks Aimee. You're awesome! xD

okay oh my fricking god. i just finished reading the finale and haven't got a chance to read season 1 and 2 completely yet but wanted to get at least caught up and tune into season 3 and omg...this was a depressingly gut wrenching finale and omg i love it haha.
You really know how to pull at the heart strings with Chloe and Oliver and really i never been much of a fan of them but i had to admit i was feeling so sorry for Chloe by the end of this episode and then just to have her...oh my god. I so can't wait to see how she comes back cause oh my god she has to come back. And then i thought Dinah was dead but then she wasn't and working with the Suicide Squad now and wow Emil i so have to get caught up on this series.
Very wonderful dramatic and dark finale and it actually felt like it was watching it on television haha. And wow i really love Harley haha and the Joker. The Vicki moments was very nice and inspiring and i don't know much about her but she seems like a strong cool chicka and i want to get to see her story. So have to get caught up and poor Ollie. He's too hot to be a memory-less hunk of hotness...so much to look forward too next season. Killer great finale i give it five stars ha!

Still to this day, "Anarchy" was my favourite episode to write. Everything just came together so well by the end of the season, and that episode was a breeze to get through and had so many pay-off moments I had been waiting to write since the season began. It's so cool to see that it still holds up. Everything you said in this review was just the highest of compliments, so thank you!
