1. Rookie Blue I have to be honest that originally the only reason that I watched this series was because I'm a huge Missy Peregrym fan. Generally, I hate cop shows. But this one has managed to change my mind. I love this show, I love the story, and I love the characters.
2. Grey's Anatomy I started watching this with my mom because she knew a guy that was in two episode in the first season. After watching the ENTIRE first season trying to find him (we eventually did) we got hooked and have been watching it ever since.
3. House I love the characters (especially House, Cuddy and Thirteen), and the story is great. I love all the cases, and each of them are always so creative and well-thought out. The character side-plots are also really good. I'm especially fond of the one they just got rolling with Thirteen on her return, and of course I'm a huge fan of Huddy. XD
4. Happy Endings A new favorite of mine thus far. It just started this week, and I love it already. It's funny, and I love Elisha Cuthbert. The dark-haired woman is a little irritating, but I can get used to her. All and all, it's good show so far.
5. The Big C Normally I'm not a fan of Showtime and HBO shows since the L Word, but I started watching this with my mom as well and I actually really like it. I can't wait until Season 2!

Okay so, I finally decided to put up my list. Here we go.
1. Battlestar Galactica Best sci-fi series. Best series, period. BSG has everything you could ever want if you're looking for a good show. The characters are amazing, the actors are amazing as well, which is hard to find these days. Fantastic plots and the writing is pretty superb! If you're not watching this show, you need to be kicked, hard.
2. Angel I know Buffy the Vampire Slayer is what spawned this wickedly good show, but I've always found "Angel" to be the better of the two. The characters and storylines just felt so much more developed and mature than the ones on Buffy, though I love that series as well -- but, Angel wins that battle.
3. Nikita Aside from being a total BAMF, Nikita is one of my favorite characters, ultimately making the show one of my favorites, because she's going up against a HUGE threat, against all odds, and she looks fiery hot while doing it. God, I swore I wouldn't sound like a horny teenager but -- that's what Nikita does to me, sadly (hidden joy).
4. Spartacus: Blood & Sand I had never seen a series like this before. At a first glance, I thought it was simply a bunch of blood thirsty gladiators killing one another, which it is, but it's also a well written drama that evokes so much emotion! The show is entering its 2nd season and even though it's going through many changes, I'm hoping for a great year.
5. Supernatural I questioned whether I should put this show on this list or not, but finally decided to go ahead and do it. Supernatural, until recently, was my favorite show. The earlier seasons were definitely the best, and even season five was decent. But that sixth year was absolutely disgraceful. I've given up on the show altogether but -- I still love seasons 1-4.

OK, a year later, I think it's time I updated my Top TV List.
#1 - Supernatural
Two brothers, on the road, fighting monsters with an awesome soundtrack. After a rather slow first season, the show became my instant favourite series of all time. The latest season is a step down but the series is still my favourite.
#2 - Lost
Lost on an island, endless mysteries and no rescue. Lost has defined ALL "Island" stories and for a very good reason. Its awesome. Put aside the endless mysteries with no reasonable answers, and you got a (mostly) solid cast. Locke, Sawyer, Juliet, Sayid, Ana-Lucia, Ben... these are some of the best characters on TV.
#3 - The Shield
A show about dirty cops? Hell yeah! This show had balls. At first it seemed like a pretty gritty cop show that was far more realistic than any other cop show (Other than The Wire). Then that final moment in the Pilot where Mackey shoots and kills another cop is where the series is where this series really became something different. Something more than just gritty and realistic. Vic Mackey is easily one of the most flawed characters ever created, closer to a villian than a hero. He;s not a good cop or bad cop. He's a differnet kind of cop. And his actor Michael Chiklis portayed him perfectly. Easily one of the best actors of a TV series.
#4 - Battlestar Galactica
I've never been a big fan of sci-fi. Star Wars was never really my thing and I could never get into Star Trek. However when I saw this series, it was something else entirely. It completely focused on the characters and got better as the series went along. The Mythology that was made up as they went along is obvious on a re-watch but overall, a great series.
#5 - Alias
What can I say? The first two seasons of this show were some of the best ever. Sydney having to juggle her double agent life with her life at home, Jack Bristow and his plain awesomeness and then Arvine Sloane, Julian Sark and Irina Derevko, three of the best villians of all time. It fell apart in later seasons, but at its best, its almost perfect. Season 2 is an example of an almost perfect season.
#6 - Veronica Mars
Teenage detective. Kristen Bell portayes Veronica Mars, a sassy, intelligent and incredibly beautiful teenager. It had smart mysteries, both episodic and season-long, it had well rounded characters and was easily one of the best teen shows of all time.
#7 - X-Files
The series that really changed TV for the better. It had a great small cast, villians that were quite mysterious, a mythology that became convoluted in later seasons but was incredibly intriguing in earlier seasons and a ton of great stand-alones. Without the X-Files, TV would be alot different than it is today.
#8 - Angel
Buffy may have started it, but Angel was surely the better of the two series. It was darker, a better cast, far more gutty than Buffy was and well, Wesley had some of the best development ever. Add Darla, Drusilla, Wolfram and Hart and all the rest of the major villians, and this is one damn awesome series.
#9 - Fringe
At first, Fringe just seemed like a newer X-Files without the Aliens. But once the Alternate Universe stuff started piling in, the show became much much better. Sure it took to around halfway season 2 to become great but once it did it really became its own show. Season 3 was even better and close to, but not on the same level, the quality of season 2 of Alias. Olivia isn;t a really intriguing main character but Peter and Walter make up for it.
#10 - Buffy
Ahh Buffy... This series, like The X-Files, really changed TV. It inverted alot of stereotypes and became one of the biggest tv shows in recent years. Looking back on it, it's not perfect. It has a little too much Quip-lash, and season 4,6 and the later part of season 7 were not real good. But besides all it's flaws, it was an amazing tv series and well acted, well written and well directed.
Honourable Mentions
True Blood - It's a pretty decent series. Way too much nudity and sex. But's its still a fun series.
Scrubs - Funny little hospital show. Not much else to say about it.
Vampire Diaires - A series that would mark around #11. Some pretty great characters (Damon, Caroline) as well as some not so great characters (Bonnie, Jenna) but its a pretty great series.

Top Five Favorite TV Shows, these are in no particular order as they are all my favorite shows:
1. Fringe By far THE BEST show I have ever seen. I love Quantum Physics, I love Abnormal Psychology, Cryptozoology. I love all that kinds of stuff. Mix in an AMAZING cast of characters that are just perfect, and you have one fantastic story. Breaks the boundaries of stupid boring cop shows.
1. Falling Skies Aliens are awesome. And this show is so awesome. The aliens are really neat, and the story just gets more and more intriguing. There is always some kind of twist you don't expect, which is hard to do in stories now. NOTHING is original anymore. This was/is fantastic.
1. V This was a fantastic remake. I LOVED it. It really fixed some of the stupid things in the original that made me laugh more, and it was just epic. I REALLY hated Inara in Firefly, but she played a way better character as Ana. LOVED this show. Cannot wait for it to stop being cancelled.
1. Tosh.O There is nothing better than watching a whole bunch of people doing some stupid shit. And TOSH IS HILARIOUS. Every episode is funny and he is just hilarious. I cannot repeat that word enough. XD
1. OUTSOURCED! OMFG! THE BEST SHOW EVER IN THE WHOLE WORLD AND THEY CANCELLED IT! I HATE THEM SO MUCH! THIS WAS SUCH A FANTASTIC SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My list has changed.
#1 | SMALLVILLE Even though I've complained a lot about this show as its aired, and well after it, I think the show did an amazing job with its characters, relationships, and stories. Although the build up to Clark becoming Superman was ruined by the fact the show lasted so long, it'll always be my favourite show and one of the only series I will continue to be very, very passionate about.
#2 | THE VAMPIRE DIARIES This has become one of my new obsessions. My favourite characters are Bonnie, Jeremy, and I'm going to throw Katherine in there because I just know she'll be awesome. I think the first season had some highs and lows, but all shows do -- especially those on the CW -- but season two looks amazing so far, and I can't wait to catch up with everyone else.
#3 | DOCTOR WHO This show is crazy awesome. It took a while for me to get obsessed with it, and I've sort of stopped watching because its been a bit hard getting invested in the show with Rose Tyler being gone, but I love Doctor Who. Some of the stories are really creative, fun and just brilliant, and some fall on the cheesy, hilariously bad side. But either way, the characters the stories center around are so interesting, and the universe is so rich and wonderful.
#4 | TRUE BLOOD I was hesitant to watch this show at first, but Chris convinced me. I really love all the shit these characters get put through each season, and the constant twists and turns keeps it refreshing and interesting. My favourite characters are Tara, Jessica, Jason and Pam. I hated Eric until the fourth season, but if he turns into his old self then I'll hate him again. I don't ship with this show. I could care less about relationships on this show. The characters drive everything, and that's why its so great!
#5 | NIKITA I sort of stopped watching around the time Michael and Nikita become somewhat of an item, mainly because I was too caught up in Smallville to get invested in the rest of the season and didn't want to force myself to watch if I didn't feel like it. But I love this show. Michael and Nikita have insane chemistry, and both are amazing characters. Nikita owns the show, but Alex is equally just as awesome. What I love most about this show is how fast paced it is, and how things can change in an instant. It really keeps me guessing, and its so incredibly unpredictable that it just has me coming back for more and more!

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When it first came out I went out of my way to avoid it but then I caught that ep in the second season where Buffy is in the hospital with the scary child-stalker thing lol. I've been addicted ever since. There is just such a wonderful dynamic between Buffy and Willow and Xander and the script never fails to touch my mind and my emotions. I've laughed, I've cried... Where's my dvd collection? 2. True Blood I read and loved the books and True Blood is just such a wonderful series in it's own right. The vampires are scary and wicked and sexy and I just love Sookie Stackhouse and Jason always makes me smile... Need I say it... Eric *Happy sigh* 3. Doll House This is like nothing I've ever seen and I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first but there is just something about Eliza - so much charisma and strength. 4. Misfits I don't know why. lol Just like that I don't know why but I love this show. I really relate to Kelly and Nathan makes me laugh so hard. It's just so raw and urban and ... I love it. 5. How I Met your Mother Alyson Hannigan is just so much fun in this show. She's so likable and funny and Neil Patrick Harris - I love this man!! He is so not Doogie any more

Thought I would give my list
5. Star Trek Franchise
It was the science fiction show that started me off. I remember watching the Best of Both Worlds with my dad and just getting hooked. I own all of DS9, ENT and VOY as well as all the films and certain TOS episodes. Its an excellent series that has many moral meanings as well as a new way to explore what it is to be human. I think that DS9 was certainly the better series, but some of ENT was a lot grittier in places.
4. Doctor Who
Although I am not loving the new Doctor, the previous incarnations have been excellent. Even David Tennant grew on me and I quickly became a fan of his. However I was very disappointed with the latest and thought the writers have really run out of steam. The enemies have also lost their flair. However the original and new series are excellent all the same.
3. Sliders
Although the actual execution needed improvement, the concept and some of the stories were excellent and did give some great moments. I think that I am one of those fans who loves the shows despite its flaws, one of them being studio executives holding it back - the reason why one actor, and notably the best, was sacked from the show.
2. Firefly
I got this show on DVD for purely out of curiosity. But what yeilded from it was an excellent few days of brilliant television. there is no better way to have shown the sci-fi show.
1. Stargate franchise.
After christmas I will own every single episode, film and dvd produced by stargate and even a few books. The show in itself is excellent, story driven with drama and comedy combining nicely to create credible storylines. There is nothing much to say but I love this show and miss the production news coming from the WWW. I wish they were do another series.
Others considered
Alias, Battlestar galactica, OC, Friends, Sharpe, Ultimate Force, Red Drawf, Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Apprentice.

#1 - The Shield "The truth is like grits, you can't serve it up plain, you got to put a little salt on it first" - Shane Vendrell
A show about corrupt cops operating in one of the worst districts of Los Angeles, with blacks, Mexicans, Armenians, Salvadorans, Russians and Koreans all in a single district fighting over power. It's easily one of my favorite shows.
#2 - The Wire "All in the game yo... all in the game... " - Omar
Realistic, gritty, thick, one of the best things to ever air. What else do you want? A realistic crime drama set in Baltimore, it follows the attempts of the police and their targets. It is the most realistic show to ever air on television. There are no supercomputers that can show a reflection in somebodys eye from a camera. Things take time. Paper work is half the job. To do anything you need a court order. Things are slow. It's why its a grand show.
#3 - Deadwood "Welcome to fucking Deadwood" - Al Swearengen
About the formation of the town of Deadwood, it is the most realistic western to ever be created. Full of grand characters like Al Swearengen and Cy Toliver, I love it. I love the filthy settings, the filthy characters and the filthy dialogue. Just watching it makes you feel a little dirty.
#4 - Breaking Bad "Stay out of my territory" - Walter White
Goddamn Breaking Bad. I love it so much. It is full of incredibly well written characters with different levels of morals and what they think is right. The situations they find themselves in can be nothing less than hilarious. The show is funnier than a comedy. I cannot wait for season 5.
#5 - Lost "Don't tell me what I can't do!" - John Locke
The show is completely confusing and insane, yet I cannot find a show on Network Television better than it. Sure it has mysteries upon mysteries upon mysteries, most of which were never answered. But it's the cast that made up for that, with characters like Locke, Sawyer, Ben, Ana Lucia, Juliet, Sayid and all the rest. Completely mesmerizing.

Hell, if you're all doing an update...
1. Game of Thrones (On the rewatch, it is definitely my favorite show. Absolutely brilliant.) 2. The X-Files (What can I say? It is loads and loads of cozy fun that never gets old.) 3. The Walking Dead (It's been a bit slow this season, but it still is wonderful, which it proved this last episode. Zombies are still great.) 4. The Vampire Diaries (I wasn't a fan of the first season, but then it really picked up... and now Season Three is looking to be the best one yet.) 5... I don't think I have a five yet.

Sorry I'm jumping in a little late for this, but I have nothing else to do. XD
Smallville
I began watching this show, just after the finale had aired. I flew through all ten seasons, and I'm so glad I actually took the time to watch them. But I'll admit, like several other TV shows, this show had it's low -coughSEASON4cough- But, during it's final seasons, I think it managed to pull through, and make for one hell of a show. XD
Law & Order: SVU
I've watched this since forever ago. XD I've always liked it better than the original and CI, and have always been a fan. I love Olivia and Elliot, and even after Elliot left, I feel like the show still has some very likable characters I can't wait for the new season to start!
American Dad!
The funniest animated show out there. XD I love it so much. Roger is easily the best character ever created. Ever I think it's so much funnier than Family Guy, even though they get me to laugh too. XD
Charmed
Three witches battling demons. Need I say no more? XD This show is awesome, and I love all of the characters from head to toe. And yes, I liked Paige more than Prue. Don't hate. >.>
Other mentions that I'm too lazy to write reasons for: The Vampire Diaries, Doctor Who, Chopped (YES, CHOPPED), CSI (BEFORE CATHERINE LEFT.), Community, Grimm, Bones, 2 Broke Girls, Misfits and Bones.

Season Four introduced the Lois Lane. And that whole love/hate relationship between her and Clark, and all the hinting at the future, it was awesome - and then, you know, that relationship became unbelievably cheesy and nails-on-a-chalk-board irritating when they actually got together, and every second line was 'its our destiny' 'we belong together' 'I died when you left.' Ugh! When really, Clark saw Lois' vision of the future where they were banging, and he was like "I wansummadat." But I digress. And what about Chloe? Alicia helped her figure out Clark's secret and we really got to look at the Chloe/Clark friendship in a new light - Chloe really believed in him, and tried to make sure he was using his powers for the greater good, and was always there for him, and omg, "Blank". One of the best episodes of the series. She could have convinced Clark that she was the love of his life, but no, she helped him through his powers, and helped him with Lana, and -gasp- how can you not love this season? Okay, granted the "I'm a witch" storyline that surrounded Lana was a bit "huh?" but even that served its purpose! More importantly, what about Lex? And the whole "I am the villain of the story" - when they split him in two and we got to see two sides of his mind, the one he always keeps hidden. And his friendship with Clark was slowly deteriorating, so there was that "will they become what they are in the comics", which was always painful because realistically, in this version, if Clark had just been honest to him, and trusted Lex - because close to no one ever did (looking at you Jonathan, you smug bastard) - Lex wouldn't have fallen that deep into the darkside. And imagine having Chloe and Lex as your sidekicks - you'd be one lucky summabitch. Speaking of Luthors, "Transference" is such a good episode. Lionel figures the secret out too, and even though he was one of those love to hate characters, it was nice that he got his own redemption storyline, and god - that episode is just awesome. And they introduced Bart, and brought back Alicia, and the finale was epic. *dead*

I think the main reason I wasn't a fan of Season 4, was because, for me, it was such a let down coming off of the previous three seasons, which were really, really great. I mean, there were aspects I enjoyed -- bringing in Lois, Chloe learning Clark's secret, the finale. But, my issues outweighed my loves that season. XD I don't even get the whole "Lana is a descendant of 17th century witch thing who was somehow connected to three Kryptonian stones" XD I was just like, "WHUUUAAATTT?". And, if I remember correctly, I don't recall her "witch-ness" ever being brought back up. XD But correct me if I'm wrong. The Teague, Omfg THE TEAGUES.I hated them so much. The Teague family took the series in a strange direction, which really didn't go anywhere, and by the end of the Season, were dumped from the show. And can we just take a minute to relive the episode where Clark and Lana raise a kid? .................................. The fun, right? So, basically that's why I am not the biggest fan of Smallville Season 4. YES, JACK. NOT A FAN. XD Oh, and I also don't like Season 7. Except for Laura Vandervoort. Omg, Laura Vandervoort.

No. No. No. No. No. No. The worst season of Smallville was Season Ten. For starters, the best damn character on the show was gone for 2/3 of the season, thus resulting in the series becoming the New New Adventures of Lois and Clark. Secondly, "Harvest" has to be the worst episode the show has ever produced, taking Lois and Clark to a silly little village that wants to sacrifice Lois to the gods (which at this point, who the hell can blame them? I'm just glad they nearly killed Clark as well). On top of that, despite having its big bad in corporeal form (this being Darkseid), the show managed to introduce three antagonists that could actually be fought, and wiped them out with a simple arrow in the series finale (this being the Unholy Trinity). Other lowpoints include "Supergirl", where Erica Durance spent the episode disguised as a dominatrix, and despite the writers, producers, and the damn actress saying the main reason they love Lois is because she is flawed, the episode revealed that Darkseid couldn't infect Lois because she was 'pure of heart', and ultimately, didn't indulge in ANY of the seven deadly sins. Pure of heart? Pure of heart? Pure of heart? Pure?
Lets not forget that despite ten years of friendship, and Chloe doing everything in her power to constantly protect and be there for Clark, he could not trust her when she returned after being gone for 10 episodes, after stressing in "Shield" that Oliver should trust her decision, and trust that she has a reason for leaving. And, to make matters worse, they not only brought Aquaman back for an episode - was there any fan who actually wanted fishboy to return, I mean really? - but they also introduced a Clark/Lex lovechild (aka Superboy), who nearly raped Lois because apparently she's so. damn. hot. Again... Most importantly, not only did the writers stress that Tess Mercer is in no way a replacement for Lex and should be viewed as her own character - the minute Lex came back, what happened to Tess? Oh yeah. They didn't need her anymore, did they? -roars- But, even after all of this, I digress. Despite Season 10 being completely inferior to all the other seasons, it had some insanely epic episodes moments. And I'm just happy that all the episodes Allison Mack came back for were actually pretty good except for Finale part one where we had to suffer through Clark and Lois' vows twice, which were painfully long. I think we can both agree that I am right. Hahaha, I'm kidding. No, but really, Season Four is a television orgasm compared to Season Ten of Smallville.
