^Really? For me, Klaus and the Originals right now are the only reason I'm still watching.

I didn't leave a review for last week's episode, which featured a huge 'Delena' milestone - not a huge fan of that relationship, so I'll just move on to leaving thoughts for the most recent episode that aired. The storyline with Alaric this season, that sparked a few episodes back, really felt out of the blue, but in this episode, it really solidified its purpose for being such a large part of this back half, and I'm really excited about where it led us. Alaric being prepared as the ultimate hunter with the ultimate weapon - how genius was that? And, not to mention, the fact that the episode spent a great deal of time writing Alaric's character off, and wrapping him up, with his farewells to both Jeremy and Elena - well, the emotions were high. I've never been a huge fan of the character, in the sense that I've been watching the show to find out what they'll do with him next, but his "sendoff" really hit me because of how alone Jeremy and Elena would have been. But then, Bonnie is drawn towards him, and feeds him her blood - and the ultimate hunter is born. Oh, and the awesome spell Esther did to make the stake indestructable was insanely epic - I loved that the writers went with it, and didn't have Klaus interrupt because of how final a blow to the heart will be for an Original with this weapon. I still don't think Klaus will be leaving the show - he's built up such a large fanbase over the course of the season, and I think the producers adore him too much to write him off. Still, I'm excited for the last two episodes. I have a feeling it will be similar to last season's run down, with #21 being full of action, and #22 being more focused on Elena, reflecting on her past, and that sort of stuff.
Anyway, I'm not sure if Esther is officially gone for good now, but I loved this character. I know she wasn't the most favourite of favourites for people, but I loved her justifications for everything, and her twisted solutions for everything else. She was such a fascinating character. Klaus, on the other hand, has slowly become someone that I want to either get killed off in an epic conclusion, or go batshit crazy, and do some serious damage. Sure, its great to dig into his character a bit, and reveal his conflicts, and doubts, and what goes on in his mind, but as an antagonist, we know from the beginning of the season he can bring it - so hopefully that's exactly what he does in these last two episodes.
Still can't get over how epic Alaric's storyline is.
The only terrible part of this episode was - and I hate to say this - Bonnie's role. However, its not the character's fault. The writers seemed to have spent all this time developping all these relationships, whether its the Damon/Elena/Stefan triangle or the Klaus/Caroline/Tyler triangle, but when it comes to Bonnie engaging in this relationship with Jamie, they feel the need to skip over any sort of "convincing" to make us care for it, or this new(ish) character, Jamie -- I'm not even sure that's his name, but I think I heard it in the episode, so I'm using it. Basically, its a good story - she's trying to be happy, and trying to be "ordinary", and this guy helps her feel that, but you know what? I don't know this character. I don't care for him. And this relationship is a rushed joke. And its obvious this isn't a "lasting" thing, so I don't know what to say about it. Its a joke.
I really wanted a Damon/Alaric scene - we got one! Loved it. I love their dynamic, but I have to say, Damon is really getting on my nerves. Hopefully, on the whole "triangle" thing - Elena chooses *drum roll* neither of them. If she does - it HAS to be Stefan! Why? Because Stefan cares about Elena's family, and friends. He doesn't try to hurt them, nor does he try to hurt Elena. Damon doesn't get his way, he lashes out like a child and has intentionally harmed Elena and her family/friends just to get back at her. He's not right for her - Rose said in the previous episode that he could be the best or worst thing for her...As much as the writers are gonna try and spin it on its head, he's the WORST thing for her, romantically and platonically. I'm not rooting for Elena to choose Stefan or Damon. I want her to get out of this triangle, consider both attractions "gone", and just let whatever she has with both of them to die out. She needs to stand strong on her own, protect her family and friends, and stop being the catalyst for so much tragedy, which she has unintentionally brought about constantly because of being caught in this triangle. It needs to end.
Sorry for the rant.
I'll finish in saying: This episode was sad. Like, really sad. It was hard to see Elena lose another person she loved, and it was hard to see Jeremy suffer so much as well. The real kicker was when Elena realised there was no one left to look after her and Jeremy. The Stefan/Elena moments were great. Alaric's sendoff was great. And the cliffhanger was shocking, in a predictable kind of way (who didn't see that one coming?).
Lets hope the final two episodes are amazing. I've heard the season finale ends on an incredibly, painfully irritating cliffhanger. That'll be fun, right? hahaha.

All I know is that Klaus' number is soo up. He should have died in the season 2 finale, but if they don't kill him at the end of season 3, then decide to keep him around for season 4, I promise you -- I'm done. lol! I kind of agree with you and Amin. I've realised in this last episode that Klaus has lost that certain edge to his character that made him so scary, and fun to watch. In the beginning, the way he was so evil, yet so insecure and lonely - he was so interesting to watch. He slowly fell into the background for a while. Now that he's back, hopefully he's more compelling to watch. Other than Klaus, the rest of the Originals have been so fun to watch. I especially love Esther, the mother of all originals, and Rebekah. Elijah was pretty good this season too - hated him in S2.

I felt last night was not the "game changer" I was promised. Now had Alaric bit and drank Damon empty, instead of drinking Bonnie's blood, to me that would of been a game changer considering that Michael, who Ester compared him to, drank nothing but vampire blood. Alaric really hasn't been useful since season two, honestly, so I just feel like they flopped last night with making him the big bad. However I will probably eat my words if the last two episodes left this season turn out to be the best. Now the little send off that all the characters gave him, and how sad Jeremy and Elena were was really emotional and they did good there. OH that reminds me. If anybody ever gets the chance to rent it, download it, stream it or if for some unknown reason it's on tv again watch the movie "Never Cry Werewolf" with Nina Dobrev in it. OMG first it's the most ridiculously dumb horror flick I have ever seen, however the cheesiness of it made me laugh out loud loads. But my point is in the movie Elena... or whatever her character's name is has a dobbelganger and there was a few other TVD things that were also used in this film. It made me laugh. I was telling my friend Jen that it was like Nina's audition or something LOL.

This episode was a rollercoaster from beginning to end, and with the fear that someone would be biting the dust, to have the outcome be such a pivotal character to the show - well, it was shocking. Alaric becoming the biggest, baddest vampire-vampire-hunter was really put center stage as a newly reborn Alaric was ready to cause some anarchy, and captured Caroline in the opening minutes of a rather chilling teaser. To have a character that is so anti-vampire that he'd go as far as to kill someone like Caroline - who is probably the hottest... I mean, sweetest, and less animalistic vampire out there - well, it gave the sense that NO vampire is safe from Alaric, which really upped the level of suspense in the episode. It was also nice to find out that the "bloodline" storyline carries on with Alaric and Elena, in that if Alaric's human side dies, Elena dies, and vice versa. The ending was a rather abrupt shock, but still pretty good.
The "you must choose" storyline is coming to some sort of conclusion, which is great. Personally, I hope/think Elena won't choose either. I think the finale will be an episode that reflects on Elena's past, and helps her to figure out and map out her future (some are speculating she could become a vampire, but I hope they don't turn in this direction). This week, I still find myself torn. I think Stefan is more open with his feelings, and is more able to express those in a loving way, whereas Damon hides them behind these walls, shown in the scene with Bonnie where she questions WHY Damon saved her, in which he says something like "I do a lot of stupid things", but you can see that he DOES care about Elena's friends and family, and DOES care about Elena. (Honestly, Damon and Bonnie would be an EPIC couple if the writers played their cards right).
Speaking of "couples", the writers really did a lot to redeem Tyler/Caroline for those who felt their sudden reunion was just about "sex" rather than anything else. I'm not a fan of these two, but its nice to see that Tyler is willing to go against everything to save her, and to fight for Caroline's friends. It felt like a real "hero" moment for Tyler this week, and I hope that continues on into the fourth season. As well as "Forwood", am I the only one who felt like the writers were hinting at Bonnie/Jeremy in that "spell" scene? First I thought it was insanely weird to pair them up after what happened between them, but then when Bonnie realised he may not come back from the dead, it was so painful to watch and when he woke up, I could have sworn she was going to kiss him. Just me? I don't know if I want them to revisit that relationship - but I think its an important part of both their lives. I'm still rooting for Damon/Bonnie, because there's so much HATE there - it could be a great episode, or series of episodes, to have them gain this sort of partnership together, and really earn a friendship there (especially if Elena doesn't CHOOSE Damon).
Sadly, Klaus had to go - just as he was shaping up to be the character I loved; he was angry, and motivated with his own plans, but still had that level of insecurity and fear of being alone that is just so painful to watch. Obviously, with Klaus being a fan favourite, its clear that Klaus WILL return eventually (hopefully not straight away in the finale), but as a send off, I felt the episode did a good job of establishing his entire journey, his entire excuse for doing what he does, and then in that last scene - all that pain was just there in his eyes, and probably the fear that if he woke up from this, his entire family might be gone, and he will be alone. I think it was sad how much Klaus looked at Stefan as a brother - I won't excuse his actions, but I think Klaus being so desperate to have someone by his side is so relatable - whether its a sibling, or a lover, or a friend. I'd bet money that we'll see him back in Season Four, if not earlier, in next week's finale.
Does anyone else feel the finale has snuck up awfully quick? Like, the season JUST found out its big bad, and where it was going to go for the last episode, and its here in a week. I don't know. I think maybe its because the show swerved its direction a bit mid-way on its relationships, like Delena, Stelena, and Klaroline and stuff. Anyway, I have a feeling that the finale is more on the "emotional" scale, like Season Two's ending. While its great to do that, I'm more a fan of the action packed, and "anyone could die" kind of episodes that TVD do, but they never seem to use them for the finale! I'm hoping sh-t goes down in this one. I really do. I really didn't like the Season Two finale - I felt, watching it I was like "its a pretty good story", but then you realise its the LAST episode you'll get for a long time, and they wasted it on a story about Damon dying, which you knew how it would end, and then their greatest "cliffhanger" was that Elena kissed Damon, thinking he was about to die, and then he survived it. I'm just hoping for more of a "CRASH, BANG, BOOM" kinda finale - if that makes ANY sense at all.
Anyway, this episode was amazing. I was freaking out at the beginning of it, and was on the edge of my seat for the rest. I love this show! I can't wait to see the finale, and I can't wait to see what the show will be like without its infamous and well known love triangle between Damon/Elena/Stefan.

Ugh, this season has been so amazing for a couple of reasons. Nathaniel Buzolic and Claire Holt. So beautiful.
I love TVD, always have. I really think they need to give Bonnie better storylines instead of the vampire's aid.

I'm really excited about the season finale. I have a feeling, though, that: Elena will become a vampire

My first thought when I saw that cliffhanger. Probably a good idea, seeing as this show kinda needs something for its next season.

Thoughts of S3 FinaleEven though I'm worried now that Elena has become a vampire, I'm also very excited to see the reactions of her friends, and her own reactions as well. Also, I wonder how much she will change in season four. Should be interesting. Overall, a pretty good finale! Very angry that I have to wait until the fall for next season.

Thoughts on the finale aka The BEST episode of the series: Bonnie's descent into darkness feels like the beginning of a really great arc, not to mention, hopefully it is the beginning of a Bonnie/Damon relationship? Please? I think Bonnie will sink so far into darkness that she's going to have to rely on Damon to bring her out of it.
Klaus' death was so emotional. Rebekah crying, and screaming "No!" was so hard to watch. It was just painful. So sad. Then, as Damon and Stefan realise that its over for them, and they both won't get Elena - its even sadder. But I really liked the focus on Caroline and Tyler - even though I despise this relationship. They were the LEAST of my worries, yet, the episode made it so emotional and sad that when they were saying their goodbyes, it was just as painful as the others (mainly because seeing Caroline in pain is always hard to watch).
So, Elena is a vampire AND she chose Stefan. Unfortunately, whereas the producers promised the "triangle" would be over, I have a bad feeling that, yes, Elena chose Stefan, but now Elena is dead. The Elena that woke up will remember meeting Damon first, and remember all the other times he's compelled her - I feel like they get to say that Elena CHOSE Stefan, but now, she's dead. All bets are off (you know). So the triangle will remain, if not, Elena/Damon will be the focal point of next season. Hopefully Damon finds some balls, and says "If I wasn't good enough for you when you were human, you don't deserve me now that you're a vampire." Also, it was TWO lines in the finale that made me think "Damon/Elena" hasn't ended (yes, I'm paraphrasing):
1) "If we had met first" - then we flashback to reveal that they did in fact meet first. So, clearly, its either there to add impact to their definitive end, or its there to build up to something more. 2) "Can't think about 'always'. Only now.' So the decision was based on Elena's life, everything she's been through, and who she can see herself with. But then, she dies, so again, I think "all bets are off."
Moving on... Who the F*CK would save Matt Donovan over Elena? Honestly. I know Stefan didn't want to disrespect Elena's wishes, especially if it was his last good deed for Elena, but my god. Matt is a great guy, but really, the show hasn't given us anything for him. I was certain he was going to die in this episode - I'm excited to see WHAT they could possibly do for his character next season, but honestly! If Elena died so that Matt could live... then surely that feels like a waste, no?
Tyler's dead! I think...probably not. But still...I'm glad to see that Klaus lives on in some form or another. Still, no one can give that character justice like Joseph Morgan - to see the actor for 'Tyler' step into those shoes will probably end in laughter. But this all leads me to --
Bonnie. Seriously, all those episodes of Bonnie getting pushed around, being victimised, being walked all over because of her magics, now she's finally stepped up and realised she doesn't have to take any more sh!t - not from her friends, not from the vampires, or demons, and more importantly, not from the wiccan rules that bind her. She's going to unleash some sort of badassery next season, and I really think its going to be HER year to shine. I feel like we've got a Dark!Willow story coming on with her, and I'm so glad that the writers decided to NOT kill her off to actually bring her to this point in the story. She's such an asset to the series.
The cliffhanger was great -- I'm not going to lie, I felt like crying towards the last 5-10 minutes of the episode. I thought Damon was going to die, and his last moment with Elena was so moving. He lost the girl he wanted, he lost his best friend - I don't know how he'll come back from this. But it really made me feel for him. Then, we had Alaric say goodbye to Jeremy which felt like the writers were just twisting the knife in my gut AGAIN. Finding out Tyler was Klaus was great too - and I loved that cliffhanger. Personally, I've hated the idea of Elena being a vampire - I feel like NOTHING can beat Caroline's transition into becoming a vampire, and seeing Elena go through it might feel repetitive. I would have preferred them go with the "Elena trains, and learns how to kick some ass" which they began to set up this season - but that said, its going to be an interesting shift for the show.
Anyway - lets wrap this essay up: What a season! What a finale! I honestly thought this was the best episode of the series. It was emotional. It was action packed. It was just a perfect embodiment of what "TVD" is, and I think it did a great job of wrapping up the season.

Holy shit..... So fucking awesome.
From that Damon/Alaric fight, to that Caroline/Tyler goodbye (I now really ship them, and I have never shipped them), to that cliffhanger, it was certainly one of the best episodes and a huge game-changer.
For the first time, I liked Bonnie. Not by much, but this darker arc she seems to be on may be what it takes for me to like her.
The love triangle will never end. I understand this now. It will continue to the final episode and probably even further on. It will never go away. If it keeps Damon around though, I can learn to deal with it.
Klaus in Tyler isn't really that great of a twist, just feels like they're gonna be doing the same shit again next season. Elijah and Rebekka surviving makes me happy though. Kol, not so much, I couldn't care less about him.
And why must Matt still be alive?! The most useless character this show has ever had. Unless they plan on making him this badass vampire hunter, I hope to god they are saving him for an extremely painful and brutal death.
And for that cliffhanger... oh god yes. It may not top Carolines, but I don't know how much longer this series could've gone without a massive shakeup. And it's sure to set up some damn good drama. Also, does this mean the end of the doppleganger line?
Bloody terrific, I cannot wait for the next season.
