I didn't have a Rubber Duck, I had a Rubber Shark. But when my mom put it in the bathtub with me, I kept jumping out because I didn't want it to eat me...>> 15 years later and she still hasn't let me live it down.

Interview Exclusive: Bryce Dallas Howard! With the action-packed conclusion to the mid-season finale "Legacy" just around the corner and the hiatus approaching, VSGuide has scheduled an interview with several cast members in an attempt to get details on what we can expect in the second half of the debut season of "The Outcasts". To kick off the string of interviews to come, we've managed to sit down with Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays Pro-Mutant Journalist and up-and-coming TV reporter Gwen Stacy. She gives us insight into her relationship with Melanie, her gig for Spider-Girl, and a few interesting trivia points! VSGuide: When you were first announced to be taking the role of the iconic Gwen Stacy in "The Outcasts", it was stated that you would appear later in the season. What changed? Bryce Dallas Howard: The producers originally intended for Gwen to come in later on, but a storyline presented itself that the producers fell in love with and decided to bring Gwen in early. VSGuide: When was the decision to make you a series regular made? Bryce Dallas Howard: When the producers realized that the storyline was going to extend a lot farther than they originally thought. They found a permanent spot for Gwen. [laughs] So I got a promotion out of it! I also think the fans had a lot to do with the decision, so thanks definitely goes out to them! VSGuide: So on to Gwen's relationships. What's up with her and Mary-Jane? Bryce Dallas Howard: I knew I was gonna get asked that! [laughs] They don't like each other. [laughs] It's just a simple fact. Gwen has a huge, huuuuge crush on Melanie and she feels a little threatened by Mary-Jane. She knows that they've been friends since they were really young, so she feels like she has something she has to live up to. She wants to respect how close MJ and Melanie are, but sometimes it's pretty hard for her. Gwen kind of feels like she has to show Mary-Jane up. VSGuide: Speaking of Melanie, we understand the circumstances between Gwen and Mary-Jane are different in "The Outcasts" than they were in the "Amazing Spider-Man" comics. So, what can you tell us about the triangle that has formed between Gwen, Mary-Jane and Melanie? Should we be concerned with confrontations between the two vying for Melanie's affections? Bryce Dallas Howard: It's going to get very "heated". Like I said, Gwen really likes Melanie. She takes every opportunity to be near her, she tries to be really touchy, all kinds of things. She just wants Melanie to know how she feels, but she hasn't quite brought herself to tell her. In the last episode that came out, if I'm not mistaken, Gwen tried to get Melanie alone but when she did, it didn't quite work out in her favor. She got to be alone with her, but she didn't get to say what she wanted. As for a confrontation...[laughs] I don't know, but there is always a possibility. VSGuide: Will we be seeing any of the iconic Melanie and Gwen relationship? The speculation amongst the fans has gotten heavy lately. Bryce Dallas Howard: Oh, we know. [laughs] As odd as it sounds, I'm a fan of both "teams" for different reasons but obviously, I have to root for Gwen! [laughs] Working with Missy [Peregrym] is amazing. She's sweet, funny, and she really gets in to it. No one else could fit into the shoes of Spider-Girl like Missy has. I'm personally a fan of the Gwen and Peter relationship in the comics and I do hope that it carries over in some form in "The Outcasts", but that's all up to the producers. VSGuide: Are there any "sneak peaks" you can give us about Melanie and Gwen? Bryce Dallas Howard: You're lucky you found me on a good day! [laughs] All I can say is to watch out for the first few episodes after the season returns. There might, might be something worth seeing! VSGuide: What about this new job Gwen has? And will we see anything else between her and Spider-Girl in terms of a "job"? Bryce Dallas Howard: I wouldn't really say it's a "new" job. She's worked at the TV station for a little while, but the last episode was her fist dabble into actual televised reporting. It's something that Gwen is really excited about. It's something that will definitely help her help Spider-Girl when it comes to Anti-Mutant happenings and things of that nature. [smiles] Gwen is actually starting to find her purpose and she will have a huge sort of "career" move by the end of the first season and it's something that she and Melanie will look into together. It's going to be exciting! VSGuide: Alright, last question. With the Brotherhood emerging as a huge threat to humanity, will Gwen stay on the Pro-Mutant side of the fight, or will she begin to slip to the other side? Bryce Dallas Howard: The thing about Gwen Stacy is that she's sweet and she's lovable. She tries to be nice at all times, but when it comes to things she loves and cares about, things she believes in, she doesn't falter. She lets you know exactly what she thinks if she has to and that really shows with the new issues that arise. Gwen realizes that not all mutants are good like she tries to paint them to be, but she doesn't really see how that matters because her view on it is that not all humans are good, either. So you can expect Gwen to stay 100% Pro-Mutant. [laughs] It's pretty much the only thing she and Mary-Jane agree on!

OK, here are my thoughts so far... Pretty solid lead cast. I would like to see them developed a bit more than what they already have been. The next few episodes (after the hiatus at the end of "Legacy (Part Two)") will have a lot of character development for pretty much everyone, so everyone will have the spotlight on them at some point. We'll see quite a bit more development before the end of this season, I believe. So stay tuned! So far, my personal favourites have gotta be Kristen and Jean. Kristen's more serious outlook and Jeans... well however you describe her attitude, are awesome. The rest of the cast is pretty sweet, except Storm. That's just something personal. I've never liked her. I've always hated that particular character. And Xavier. Always too perfect for me to like. I'm glad to see that Kristen seems to be becoming a favorite (or at least making a comeback from her "unfavorable" entrance as Mary-Jane's girlfriend). She's personally one of my favorites to write for (second only to Melanie) and I'm happy to see that you're enjoying her character. I, myself, don't write for Jean (that is all Maddie ) but I'm also glad to see that you're liking her character as well. The fact that her attitude has gone over well is something that I'm really excited about. Ororo and Xavier, I think, are two people that haven't really had "their time to shine" in the Outcasts. Once they do, I think they might become better characters, but we'll have to see. XD For couples, really digging Kristen/Jean but my absolute support goes to Melanie/Gwen. Probably my favourite couple in comics ever. I think it's safe for me to say that you can expect a LOT of drama to start between the whole issue with the couples after the mid-season finale. The Kristen/Jean and Melanie/MJ/Gwen will really start to kick up. XD Anything can happen at this point. Now the Brotherhood. While intriguing at first, I'm really starting to hate them. And not because they're evil but because they seem to be completely useless. The villains can't seem to do anything right. And that ain't good. Hopefully Magneto can whip them into shape cos they really suck right now. The Brotherhood will become more of a threat in coming episodes, especially with Magneto now in the picture. He and Mystique are both unamused with the Brotherhood's less than spectacular performance compared to the X-MEN, so you an expect for them to become a bigger threat soon. Magneto doesn't play games. Can't wait to see more of this. Thanks so much for giving us your thoughts thus far! It's always great to know what you guys are thinking. ^^

"Legacy (Part One)" was briefly taken down to fix a few typos and fix a line of dialogue, but it's now back up. Sorry for any inconvenience that might have caused!

Well, if you take her back, I'll get in trouble for harboring a crazy person, and then Outcasts will never, ever see the end of its first season.

I watched my sister and my cousin play Portal 2 last night. I've been playing Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and a bunch of other games with my cousins...which is part of why the next Outcasts episode isn't out yet >.>;

Dude, okay, I just have to say (after replaying it with my cousin last night/a few minutes ago) I LOVE PERFECT DARK! The one for the Nintendo 64. I mean, the graphics were crap but I mean, come on. XD The game itself was amazing, and the co-op and combat simulation things were AWESOME.
I just played Perfect Dark Zero...and I'm not too impressed. X-Box controls confuse the shit out of me XD But, I'm slowly getting used to it.
Also >> I'll have a 360 for the day with my cousin...so if anyone wants to play Halo 3 with us tomorrow, lemme know. I'd love to play with you guys while I'm able to, even if I WILL suck ass XD
