EXCALIBUR. Beyond the police and outside any small time government task force. Created back in the dark ages by a sorcerer of great power, Excalibur deals with the supernatural side to the world as they try to keep the existence of magic,vampire,demons and various other threats underwraps. Excalibur has dealt with many situations, Supernatural or normal.

Meet Samuel Temple (Drew Van Acker). A 24 year old demon hunter on a streak of revenge. After the death of his fiancee, he has been on the hunt for the thing that killed her. On the night that he follows a hot lead he has a run in with Excalibur. After that moment his whole world changes. He soon realizes that the monsters he's been battling arent the only thing that is effecting the world. And that his journey is just beginning....

Born into a family of demon hunters can come in handy. For SAMUEL TEMPLE, it makes his life even better. Ever since he can remember, Sam has fought the forces of darkness and has never back down from a challenge. Choosing to try and balance a normal life along with his hunter lifestyle, Sam has gone to college to major in psychology in a hope to understand the world as a whole. His world is turned upside down when the demon who killed his mother resurfaces and starts causing more harm. His search leads him to a team know as Excalibur. When he joins them he learns that his destiny is just beginning...

Born into a family of Lycans, Lydia GUTHRIE was taught two things: Kill or be Killed. Growing up was not an easy track for Lydia considering her father was trying to give her a sheltered life even though she was more of a wild child at heart. Of course her family sees it as weakness and constanly berate her for it. However, it's only a matter of time till Lydia gets her independence from her pack.

Always the one in control, JACKSON BENNETT knows how to get the job done. Jackson is the only one on the team who doesnt have some weird ability or special talent. But he does make up for it by being a superior shot with his trusty shotgun Betty. Joining Excalibur was his one chance to show he can make a difference. What he doesnt know is that his time to shine is coming sooner than he thinks.

With a past shrouded in mystery its no wonder DECLAN HARRIS is the loner type. Declan has been with the team since its inception and has been the one to keep the team on solid ground. He keeps secrets from the rest of the group and sooner or later they will come to light.

Born into a family of psychics, RILEY EVANS is youre go-to girl for any problems with the supernatural. Her family history dates back to the old days of the Salem witch trials. Riley is a fighter and that is one of the qualities that has kept her alive for so long. Her attraction to Sam is one of the things that keeps her around for now

Sexy and Seductive, NEIKI is one demon that you dont want to get involved with. Not much about her history is known but one thing is for certain, she definately doesnt like the Temple family. And her vendetta against Sam is only the beginning to the type of trouble she is going to bring to Excalibur

Star reporter and all around great guy, EZRA GORDONis the one guy who you can trust completely. Having been Sam's sidekick/bestfriend ever since birth, Ezra is the one person Sam can turn to in a dire crisis. Although now that Sam has joined Excalibur will Ezra be needed? And if so....In what way?

EPISODES:
1.01 Beginning/Pilot: After a gruesome chase through the streets of L.A that end up with four people dead and an attack on his "Warehouse", Samuel Temple (Drew Van Acker) ends up in police custody. But before they have time to book him, the demon hunting group Excalibur rescues him. But the trouble doesnt end there when the team and Sam team up to find who set him up.
1.02 Footsteps: After gaining Sam on the team, Excalibur looks into a couple murders in a neighborhood slightly familiar to them. Meanwhile Ezra gets a new lead on the Demon.
1.03 Declan: After a case hits a little to close to home,Declan's past is revealed and shows how he became the man he is today
1.04 Hex: The Big Bad decides now is the time to strike. The first order of buisness is to cast a Hex on the team to release there inner inhibitions. But with the team distracted, can the figure out the big bads purpose
1.05 Trapped: After an attack by Neiki (Rose McGowan) in the Hub, Sam (Drew Van Acker) and Riley (Elise Gatien) are stuck inside the base when it goes into lockdown. Now its up to the others set them free.
1.06 Eclipse (Mid-Season finale) : After the jarring events of the last episode the Team gears up to go after Neiki. But the plan goes all the way to hell when an eclipse appears causing the city of LA to get overrun by demons. With situations dire and time running out, One Excalibur member makes the ultimate sacrifice
1.07 Gauntlet: A month has passed since the devastating events of "Eclipse". When signs lead to an underground fight club of sorts, Sam goes undercover to try and solve the case
1.08 Blue Moon: Things get worse when a rare blue moon appears causing Lydia and the Werewolves of LA to become a massive threat
1.09 Loss: With the return of an old friend, the team tries to rally together when one of there own is on the brink of death
1.10 Isis: After returning from her trip to Egypt, Kaia brings some unexpected baggage with her when she is possessed by the egyptian goddess Isis. Her goal: Ressurect Osiris and get revenge on Neiki
1.11 Virus: When a Virus is unleashed on the supernatural world, The team race to find a cure. But with some of the team infected will they be able to save them in time?
1.12 Take Over: Neiki moves to the final stages of her plan. Opening up a nexus to her own dimension and release her army of demons. With Excalibur seperated on opposite sides of the world, will they be able to stop Neiki in time?

I'll get into a greater review, but first off I just want to say a 'male slayer' defeats the purpose of the Buffy mythology, and its whole reason for creation - and if you could turn this into an original, non-related to BtvS pitch, then that'd be even more likely to be picked up.

That said, I'll review the characters/episodes/plot deeper when I get time

Okay, here's my look at the pitch: "Destined."

The title itself pulls me in, I'm rather intrigued (despite Smallville ruining the impact of the word by overuse and silly storylines). When I first saw it was a BtvS related pitch, I was sort of hesitant, but decided to read it through anyway. The story of: "what if a man was activated as a slayer" is definately new, I'm sure its been tackled before, but not in a virtual series, I believe. On one hand, its new, it rewrites history, and twists the story into a new direction - which done correctly could be a perfect addition to the mythology of the BtvS universe. But the primary, biggest flaw -- it ruins the reason why the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was created in the first place.

As Joss Whedon said, it was always so typical that the blonde girl would be a silly, accident prone character that needs a big strong man to save her, or simply, gets eaten/killed off because of her lack of survival skills or stupidity. So he created this show based around that: what if it was reversed. And that is shown in the very first scene of the series; two students break in, the girl is scared, and the boy is playing tricks. Then BAM, the girl turns out to be a vampire, and she eats him. Unexpected. New.

This doesn't have that same impact for me.

The cast is great, definately a new look, and unique feel. But again, Oliver Pike? I honestly don't want BtvS to be dragged into the same universe as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer failed film, and that is exactly what this does by introducing Oliver Pike. As for the other characters, its definately your strong suit -- you tend to work off of characters and I love what you can create for your shows. Your characters, their personalities, powers, whatever, its always great.

Last of all, I see this show having great potential ... but NOT as a Jossverse show. You don't need the main lead to be a slayer, because he's a man [history proves men are NOT slayers], and you can give him similar abilities but in your own, new way. Using plot devices like "learning about his powers" by bringing in the Powers that Be, thats another copout. I feel there's a lot of great potential, and I'd hate to see it be wasted on a "jossverse" show, when you can have a brand new, original, Karl-Hurd-Verse series.

So, overall, a LOT of GREAT potential, but NOT as a JOSSVERSE series.

I have to agree with Jack on a lot of this, mostly on the point of you not making a spin off series. You have such great character ideas it seems a shame to simply throw them into an already established universe. These days everyone seems to be writing Jossverse virtual series so if you really want to stand out from the pack I'd say go something totally original. You seem to have the skill to do so, judging from some of your other pitches, so I don't see why not. What you have here is still a pretty cool idea but in my opinion all the BtVS spinoffs are getting kinda old and I'd prefer to see you investing your creative talents in something original and totally your own

Wow, I actually LOVE this pitch. The characters make it for me, so unique, different people that are all put together to form this team. The premise is exciting, dealing with demonic threats, keeping them underwraps, etc. I think this would be a perfect addition to the VPN lineup, especially to air alongside the highly anticipated Edge of Vision!

I have nothing bad to say about the characters! You've got the hunter, the tomboy, the weapons expert, the booknerd, and the eyes and ears, who just happens to be gay (another unique quality to the show). One little thing you're definately going to have change is Declan's nickname. Due to Watchtower, and Trinity, both heavily being DC Comic based shows, the codename "Oracle" can't be used, sorry. Its too much like Barbara Gordon's persona, of the same name, and the character itself is like her being the 'eyes and ears' (Chloe too). So the nickname needs to go, but other than that, I'm seriously in love with this pitch.

Karl, this is AMAZING. I love it! Probably you're best pitch to date! The changes REALLY helped, this is a great improvement.

First off, I love the storyline of supernatural crime fighting group. The name Excalibur is pretty awesome too xD The plot is very strong and solid, I cant wait to hear more about the episodes you're planning! And oh, the characters. Wow, no shock here. They're great! You always manage to come up with unique, complex characters in all your pitches and it's no different here. I'm a fan of every one of the characters here and I cannot wait to see how they interact with one another in the actual script.

Like Jack, I really have nothing bad to say about this pitch. It's AMAZING, and I'm wishing you luck with writing the pilot This might be the one Karl Best wishes

I feel like such a loser right now. I said i was going to have the pilot done and sent to the showrunners that i wanted to read it. But because i have been busy with my new job and school, I didnt ever finish editing the pilot and fix what needed fixing. So i am once again going to try and finish this pilot.
Because I HONESTLY want this opportunity to have my series on the VPN...so BAD.hahaha. So hopefully once i finish it...i will let you all know
