After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow - a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be - flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle - while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

I am really psyched about seeing this show in the fall,it's just too bad this show isn't a spin-off of "SMALLVILLE". Because I really liked the actor who played oliver queen/green arrrow on smallville...he brought depth & personality to the character and was the only interesting character on the show...well him and lex luthor!

Of course I will be watching this show. I am very glad to see another superhero/comic book TV show on the air, so I will give Arrow the support it needs. I do not know much about the history of Green Arrow, so I am excited to learn as the show grows. Hopefully this will be able to find a following like Smallville did and continue for many years.
I wonder how long it will take the show to feature Black Canary?!

I'm just glad the DC Comic Universe is being represented on the small screen. Smallville did it's job well. Sure, the show fell off here and there, but it lasted ten years, and that's an accomplishment. I hope for the best with Arrow. And I'm looking forward to getting invested in these characters.

Definitely looking forward to this. With Smallville ended, The Cape cancelled, and NBC passed on Wonder Woman, I need my live-action superhero TV fix. ;D

Super pumped for this to start. Green Arrow has got to be in my top super heroes. And having the Huntress appear at some point makes me so much more excited. Because, as everyone on this forum should now, I LOVE ME SOME HELENA BERTINELLI.

I am so ready for this show tonight. I really need this to be good, not only because Green Arrow is possibly my favorite hero (save for Batman) and the whole practice of Archery is kick ass, and totally something I want to take up in the future (True Story), but because I need DC Comics to step their game up when it comes to TV/Film/Whatever, because Marvel has been kicking its ass for a very long time. LOL! jks. That's petty. I just want this to be good, so badly.

But no, Arrow looks epic. And WHAT ABOUT THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY? Seriously, Chris! omg. Who are you? Hahaha. Downloading Arrow now... I'm so impatient. I heard it was AWESOME.

"Pilot" Review. I'm sold, basically. It was a good pilot. The only faults I had with it was the lack of chemistry between Dinah "Laurel" Lance, and Oliver Queen, the horrid voice overs, and the complete 360 turn in Laurel's character- it would have been much more interesting if they didn't try and solve the conflict between Laurel and Oliver in this first episode. Other than that, it was great...
The origin story of Arrow was fantastic, and felt rather fresh with Oliver describing the figure before actually creating and establishing it in order to find an excuse for the police. The friendship between Oliver and Tommy seems like it will be similar to the Clark/Lex arc of Smallville, as I'm about 97% sure Tommy is Oliver's arch nemesis from the comics, but begins the series as his "best friend". I loved the brother/sister relationship between Oliver and his sister, who I'll call "speedy" because I've forgotten her name already. But Speedy was awesome- I love how she's gone down a dark path because of losing her brother and father, and she's sort of following in the footsteps of Oliver, and ruining her life.
The pilot had quite a few twists which really excited me. I loved that Laurel's father is the head of the police department, and has this conflict with Arrow, as well as Oliver. It was interesting to see Oliver's mother play a much larger role in the story than I thought- the actress they've cast seems to be the best of the bunch, imo. It was just an extremely well done pilot, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season- lets hope the ratings aren't shit, like all the other CW shows right now.

Just watched the Pilot and enjoyed it. Has that 'Smallville' feel to the show overall, and have to say impressed with Stephen Ammer as Oliver, his speed, stunts, running and leaping was really good and presume it was him doing it all (or most of it).
The background is teasing, with the previews of what happened on/off the island at start and end. I'm sure we'll learn much more over time about his time there. (One thing that bugged me was how did he create his bow and arrows out of metal, when he was on a deserted island of only trees and rocks? - that needs to be explained).
Katie Cassidy adds the glamour as his ex, and his best friend certainly offers that friendship that will be tested along the way, as well as his mother's past.
I hope they stick with it long term, as could see this as being a good series, although don't think would run as long as Smallville did it still has lots of potential to be exciting with other 'well-known' characters making cameos along the way. I'll stick with it and continue to enjoy it.

So, last night, Arrow's premiere snatched 4.017 million viewers, which is the highest CW series opener in three years. Holy crap, if they can just fix the dialogue, get rid of the voice overs, and keep ratings like this, I'm sure Arrow won't be going anywhere anytime soon, which makes me very, very happy. XD

I'm definitely sticking with this one. I did have a few issues with the pilot, which have been listed above. Mostly, the dialogue falls flat and is very predictable in places, but when it's good, it's pretty good. Those god awful voice overs have got to go though. It was just so cliche. I'm shocked it didn't get cut.
Edit: Screw you, VPN, for making me look like an idiot by saying "listed above." LOL

What a great premiere! I finally got around to watching this late last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I went into it with no expectations and really loved it. I'm not going to lie I love anything Katie Cassidy is in. To me it was like a combination of Smallville and Revenge and I love both of those shows. Two thumbs up!!
