Exclusive: Archie Panjabi, Denise Quinones And Lucy Lawless Join 'Watchtower!' The final episodes of 'Watchtower' Season 4 are shaping up to be jam-packed with guest stars, and VSGuide has the latest on who you'll cross paths with as the season winds to a halt. With production beginning on the twentieth episode of the season, titled 'Paradise,' on-set sightings, later confirmed by the network, have confirmed the presence of three familiar faces — 'The Good Wife' actress Archie Panjabi, 'Xena The Warrior Princess' herself, Lucy Lawless, and a former Smallville guest star, Denise Quinones. "We wanted to do things a little different than seasons past, which often have a call to action in the penultimate episode and then a crazy finale," series creator, Jack Malone told VSGuide, alluding to "crazy finale" events playing out much sooner than usual, "Instead, something big happens in our first episode back [from hiatus] that propels things into overdrive and every subsequent episode has just escalated the stakes." One of the tools that's allowed for this approach to work has been the use of returning characters, new heroes, and other fresh faces popping up in this last run of the season. "We're going to have a much larger and stronger team heading into the finale, and there are quite a few announcements on the way about who you might see come back before [Season 4] comes to an end." One of those announcements involves the return of Denise Quinones as Andrea Rojas aka The Angel of Vengeance. Quinones first appeared as the character in a Smallville Season 5 episode where Andrea turned to the life of a vigilante in order to get revenge for those responsible in her mother's murder. She would later feature in an online web-series (that also starred Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan) where fans learned she had embraced the life of a hero, understanding a stronger concept of justice and was working to fight crime in Metropolis. Now, the character is expected to resurface in the twentieth episode of the season, and have a potential role in the final two episodes of the season. "Ever since we started [Watchtower] we have wanted to catch up with Andrea Rojas, and now — with all the heroes on the Watchtower database being called in to fight — it felt like the perfect time to see what she's been up to," Malone said of the character's return. While a lot of the heroes showing up for the fight will be peripheral characters — mostly featured in heavy action sequences and playing a "team role" in upcoming episodes — the 'Watchtower' creator made a point to assure fans that every returning hero will have their moment. "There's always a unique aspect to a character that we like to narrow in on and draw out in certain moments that allows them to shine, and Andrea will definitely have a few of those." Also joining the lineup is 'The Good Wife' actress, Archie Panjabi who has signed on to play the character of Elizabeth Thorne, a very British and highly intellectual Checkmate agent that accompanies Chloe on a mission to Paradise Island, told through a series of flashbacks in the twentieth episode the season. "Out of all the Checkmate agents I've written into the show since day one — excluding Amanda Waller and Maxwell Lord, of course — Elizabeth Thorne has probably been my favourite," Malone told of the yet-to-be introduced character, "She's a very smart woman who is quite meticulous and methodical and has everything planned out to the dot, even when you think she's down and out, she comes back swinging and surprises you." While the character is said to feature in flashbacks, and for one episode only, the 'Watchtower' creator seemed adamant about bringing her back in the future. "I feel like she'd be a great character to bring back in [Season 5], definitely." Last, but certainly not least, actress Lucy Lawless ('Xena: The Warrior Princess' / 'Spartacus') has signed on to play the mother of all roles: Queen Hippolyta, mother of Wonder Woman. Hippolyta, described as a strong, noble leader for the Amazons, has a stubborn distrust towards those outside of Themyscira, and isn't too pleased when Chloe shows up on Paradise Island. "Hippolyta has always had this attitude towards mankind, but due to certain events in the past, she feels more justified in her stance towards them and so it'll take a lot for Chloe to prove herself to the Amazonian Queen," Malone revealed, teasing an interesting series of interactions between Chloe and the Queen of the Amazons. However, it is unknown if Hippolyta will resurface in the present day storyline. "She plays a small but significant role in the flashbacks, and that's all we can really say about it right now. But you can expect some very powerful moments to come out of it."
All three actresses make their first appearance in the twentieth episode of the season. So, there you have it. Let us know what you think about the casting news. Are you excited to catch up with The Angel of Vengeance? What do you hope to see from Watchtower's version of Queen Hippolyta? And are you sceptical to meet another Checkmate agent? Sound off below!

i glad what Denise Quinones return! hope see her in season 5! Not sure if she would be an essential character to bring back for the final season, but hopefully her appearances in Season 4 will be enough for those who have wanted to see "The Angel of Vengeance" pop up again.

Currently writing the final two episodes of the season. Can't believe how quick it's gone. Should have a release date for the next and final run of the season out soon, but it'll definitely be a lot sooner than I was expecting. Any questions about the rest of the season, and I'd be happy to answer. If not, I should be posting some more spoilers soon

Will it be explained why Pete didnt go to Chloe's wedding? 3. How will Ollie cope when he finds out Chloe is still alive? 4. Will the scene with Perry and Chloe come to pass in the episode of Ollie and Dinah's wedding? 5. So Amanda Waller is the big bad for the remainder of the season? Did you plan that from the start?

Will the scene with Perry and Chloe come to pass in the episode of Ollie and Dinah's wedding? 5. So Amanda Waller is the big bad for the remainder of the season? Did you plan that from the start? 1) When will Karl show up again? He's definitely around in the last few episodes of the season. I don't want to open all the episodes up to find a specific number for you because I'm super lazy right now. But I definitely know he's in 419 and 420. He could be in 418, but I'm not too sure about that one. But you will get to see The Ranger again, and in a pretty awesome scene that is both action packed and comedic. I really enjoy writing the Lucius/Karl dynamic. 2) Will it be explained why Pete didn't go to Chloe's wedding? I don't think so. You definitely hear a little bit about what Pete's been up to, and you even get to find out where he's heading, but it's a little too trivial to specifically bring up why he wasn't at the wedding. That wasn't even on my mind when I was writing it so I doubt an explanation is found in the episode. But there's some really great stuff for Pete in 'Smallville.' And some nice Pete/Lana stuff, too. 3) How will Oliver cope when he finds out Chloe is still alive? I think you'll be surprised. It's probably not the reaction you'd expect from him. 4) Will the scene with Perry and Chloe come to pass in the episode of Oliver and Dinah's wedding? Yes. It's a really nice scene between them from Season 3. While it is a scene from a previous season, it's not portrayed as a flashback. However, the following episode has some Perry flashbacks that I'm excited about (even though it's not new scenes). 5) So Amanda Waller is the big bad for the remainder of the season? Did you plan that from the start? Amanda Waller isn't the big bad for the remainder of the season. I've definitely set something up for her, but it's not for this season. You'll have to see what happens in the first episode back

Awesome. Also, with Wonder Woman showing up, anything you can spoil about that? Yeah. I guess I can start with the basics: she's here for a three episode arc that begins in 'Paradise' and concludes with the season finale, 'Checkmate.' You'll get to see her at three different points in her life — in World War II, in the timeline of Smallville Season 10, and then in the present. And she's a little reluctant when we catch up with her in the present. Something has happened that's really made her give up on humanity. She's not new to being Wonder Woman, and it's obviously been established that she hasn't been on Themyscira this entire time, but something has happened that's made her a bit of a recluse — almost like Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, haha! There's also a reason why she comes into the story. It's not just a, "holy shit we need someone like Wonder Woman," it's more about what she has that they need and it's not really about her at all initially. Chloe doesn't go to Wonder Woman to recruit her for war. In fact, Chloe's very aware that Diana wouldn't feel very inclined to help fight this war in Gotham because of the experience they shared in the past (around Smallville Season 10). So Diana definitely has her own thing going on that will connect and add a lot more relevance to her showing up on 'Watchtower.' I'm pretty excited about it. Also, this is my interpretation of the character. Certain things don't mesh from the comic book world. I hope any differences are embraced and that you guys enjoy the Wonder Woman of this universe

Episode #4-21: "Trinity" Written by: Jack Malone Produced by: The VPN UPDATED 3/07/2017 - Producers told VSGuide that the episode will have a significant focus on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. "The episode definitely feels sectioned off into three parts — the first being heavily focused on Batman, the second on Superman, and the final act centering on Wonder Woman," the 'Watchtower' creator revealed, "Whether or not they come together by episode's end is another question and something I'll leave out there for speculation." - Tori Spelling reprises her role as Linda Lake in this episode. It will be her last appearance of the season. - One of the Bat-Family characters introduced this season will receive a suit and a codename in this episode. - Katherine's (Deborah Ann Woll) history at West Point will be explored in this episode. - Producers revealed that this episode will be the first and most likely only episode to feature a minimal amount of Chloe (Allison Mack), despite being the main character of the series. The 'Watchtower' creator told VSGuide, "Chloe has two really powerful scenes at the beginning of the episode, and then is quite absent until the end. The season finale will be a direct contrast and is set to feature her in a much larger capacity." - Stana Katic reprises her role as Talia Al Ghul. - An old set that was used quite frequently in the third season of 'Watchtower' (and made one appearance this season) will resurface, and play a huge role in the final two episodes.

When shows focus on other characters than the main character in an episode, that just goes to show that the series is taking bold creative choices and I for one love that this is happening. Cant wait to see what happens

Cant wait to see what happens Thanks, man. The story just seemed to play out that way. Chloe's a little preoccupied with something that calls for her absence throughout the majority of the episode, which opened up an opportunity to really focus in on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as some other auxiliary characters. I feel better about it knowing that the season finale will be very focused on Chloe, and so will the next and final season.

Since you bring that up, what can you tell us about "Destiny"? Any spoilers for that? 'Destiny' is a really big episode. I feel like teasing anything about it would feel like giving too much away, but I'm too excited about it so I'll throw some spoilers out there. It is — or at least it contains — a time-travel story. I've said since the beginning of the season that there's a permanent death and that in order to include that, the show needed to explore the methods of reversing death, and so this is the episode that revisits the Legion Ring. It's a very action-heavy episode. Hope Sullivan comes back. There's a focus on Clark's arc, in particular, about his choice to remove his powers. You'll get to meet a very young Maxwell Lord from the past. We finally found out who Doctor Fate is under the mask. Chloe's entire destiny and purpose is stitched together for you in the episode. It's also Martha's last episode of the season. Zatanna's back for a scene. There's a lot of action sequences in the episode - it's a big action-heavy episode. And there's a huge consequence from changing time and I won't say if its good or bad but it's a definite side effect of playing around with the Legion Ring in the episode. So hopefully those spoilers do the job, haha. I'm really excited for this episode and 418, which I think is one of the biggest episodes of 'Watchtower' that I've ever written. I'm excited to finally air this next run. I start writing the season finale in a few days. It's all happening.

Legion Ring? Time-Travel? Are we getting someone to go save Tess from Lex? Because if so, yes please Time for some sad news: Tess Mercer's death is a permanent one. At this point in the show, other than bringing a character I love back, there wouldn't be a strong purpose for her to be brought back. The good news, though, is that there are still some stories to be told with the character, and I'm always open to bringing her in for an episode should the story call for it. She's in the first episode back from hiatus, titled 'Smallville.' I have a Christmas Special episode that I hope to finish and air this year that features the character, and Tess should play a role in the first episode — the season premiere — of the fifth and final season
