It went with Kripke. XD I say these seasons are enjoyable, but not SPECTACULAR like the first ones were.

Too be honest as probably the biggest fan of Supernatural - I agree that the first five Season's were amazing! Than after Kripke stepped down it slipped way down.. and when it was moved to Friday nights I was like yes! Now it's gonna get cancelled and I wont have to keep watching, than it did even better in ratings and they now there moving it to Wednesdays argg!
Though I do realize that with One Tree Hill gone, Supernatural is the CW's Senior show, besides Top Model -- but that garbage shouldn't count.

screenrant.com/supernatural-season-8-10-jeremy-carver/... I'm not sure how I feel about this.... After season 6 and 7 and the mediocre quality of those seasons, I have alot of doubts about this path. Plus 10 seasons is alot for a show. On the other hand, with Jeremy Carver as Showrunner, I have a glimmer of hope. Not alot, but a bit.

I agree with many of the comments above that the show wasn't particular amazing after the originally planned five seasons but I do think that it was still good, but not amazing as we've come to be used to with Supernatural. I completely ignored season six as a credible one because of the amount of nothing that consisted of it and how terribly things were handled. I almost gagged at how things were pieced together in terms of after the apocalypse. They should've spent more time on the aftershocks of the apocalypse but it was all really ignored.
Although season seven did have its duds, I really did like the Leviathans but thought they could be so much better than their portrayal. They were even more badass than Angels, so surely they could've seem more threatening to the world but instead, just infiltrated it. Their ultimate goal was kind of boring aswell but I do think the Leviathans would've been a really badass enemy had they had a better interpretation.
Although, season eight has shown to be the return of the good old days where Supernatural put in place mythology and focused on detail and I really think we're getting our old show feelings this seasons. It's all thanks to Jeremy Carver who really has a grasps on the characters and has quite a direction for what where we're going instead of aimless drifting through seasons like season six and seven.
All in all, season eight is pretty amazing right now. I love the storyline, I love the relationship with Dean/Ben, Kevin/Winchesters, Crowley/Winchesters and the storyline concerning 'The Word of God'.

I watched the pilot of this last night, after putting it off for quite a while, but now I'm sorry I waited so long. It was a really interesting concept to take an urban legend (Woman in White), and make it the central evil bad-guy thingy XD. Sam and Dean are two interesting characters, definitely able to hold their own as central characters. And the ending was so sad, it must have been like hell all over again. You can just see, and feel, that he's slightly cracked before he leaves with Dean.
But anyway, really good concept, really good execution, really good show.
I'd give the pilot 8/10, it was an AMAZING episode but I'd like to see more setting up from a pilot. Hopefully the next episode will answer some more questions, like who killed their mother.

I've been rewatching season 4 of Supernatural, and it's probably my favorite season. I miss these characters so much, but I'll still probably stop watching when I get to the end of season five.

I've resumed my watching of season two and I'm really enjoying it right now. The bank episode and this last one where Sam got possessed were particularly exciting. However, I still feel the season one "monster of the week episodes" have been stronger so far. Other than the clown in episode two, those stories have been fairly generic. But like I said, I'm still enjoying the heck out of this season regardless.

I think I agree with you when you say season one was better with putting out original monster of the week episodes. I think Supernatural has been very successful with combining both procedural and serial styles. Just going through season four, and watching how the "monster of the week" themes have continued to cross with the developing "Angel" plot, is making me realize how great the show is, or was, with overlapping plots. That, and I really missed Ruby. I didn't even know how much I liked Genevieve Cortese's "Ruby" until I started this season. Even though she turns out to be an evil little b-tch by the end.

UGH, you're a Ruby 2.0 fan. Chris, I may have lost a little bit of respect just now. HAHAHA!! Maybe it's my mad love for Katie Cassidy, I don't know, but Ruby 2.0 annoyed the living hell out of me. But I agree with both of you about season one. I still consider it my favorite because it had more of a scary movie feel to it, where it's now become more of a parody of itself, with the odd emotional episode. Not that I'm complaining because I love the show, I do. Just different than I used to like it Lol.

Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you are, Darrin. I used to HATE Ruby 2.0. Katie Cassidy's Ruby was so much better, but I'm just going back and looking at the whole season with new eyes, it seems, because I didn't like Sam in season 4, or his storyline, but now, I find it pretty well done and overall, awesome. His plunge to darkness is slow, and satisfying. Love how this show takes its time, as we've this whole thing has been setting itself up from the very first episode of Supernatural.

Dean telling Sam about his time in Hell just almost made me cry... What the hell? It's not like I didn't already know what he was gonna say! Why am I being so emotional!?

Yeah, that was soo emotional! Don't worry, Chris, I'm right there with ya! Lol. I got worked up when John died in the season two premiere... Well, my first reaction was "Why can't Jeffrey Dean Morgan hold down a job?" Lol His character Denny on Grey's Anatomy had died the previous season finale and I was like "well at least he's John Winchester on Supernatural" and then Whammo! Lol.

I finished season four. What an epic season. Then... this is funny; I watched the first and last two episodes of seasons 5, 6 and 7, and now I've started season 8. I didn't feel the need to watch those seasons. Supernatural provides some pretty great "previously on" recaps with each episode so, I feel pretty caught up.
Dean (and Castiel?) is in Purgatory. Ooh, that's bad. Season eight, here I come. Please, don't suck.

Season 8 isn't too bad. Nowhere near the quality of the first few but certainly better than 6 and 7.

Call me crazy, but I'm actually enjoying season 8. Finally, this show is starting to get back on track. Long way to go before it's nearly as good as it was, but hopefully it'll just keep getting better from this point on.

Oh, its certainly enjoyable. Some really good stuff this season. But, like you said, it's got a long way to go to reclaim its former glory.

Just when I decide to finally give up on this show (again!) it goes and makes Misha Collins a series regular for season nine. *sighs* Now I'll have to tune in next season.
