VSGUIDE EXCLUSIVE: New Showrunner Announces Plans For Trinity!!!
After the news of Chris Davis stepping down as showrunner and former producer Karl Hurd is taking his place as showrunner, we have been silently waiting for news on what exact control Karl has and what his plans and feelings are going into this. Luckily we were able to grab time to be able to hold an interview with him.
VSGUIDE: So Karl how does it feel to be showrunning for Trinity? Any Anxiousness?
KARL: Oh definitely....I mean Chris created a unique world for Trinity. I was lucky enough that he wanted me to showrun in his stead. I really hope that I have what it takes.
VSGUIDE: Have you always been a fan of Trinity?
KARL: Oh of course. [smiles] Lana Lang is like the one character aside from Chloe [Sullivan], that showed the most growth. Most prominently in its brother series' eight season. She rocks in every way and I hope I'm able to do what Chris did and show that.
VSGUIDE: Speaking of Trinity, what are your plans for the remainder of this season?
KARL: [chuckles] Wow....you really want to know all the dirty little secrets dont you?
VSGUIDE: [laughs] Are viewers are very curious as to what you have up your sleeve!
KARL: Well, I will be basically following what Chris left behind....but adding my own spin on things.
VSGUIDE: Your own "spin"? What do you mean?
KARL: Well for starters, the returning episodes will feature an original character of my own design who will become an important face later on. I will also be making sure that some, if not all of the visions Cynthia has had come to pass in some way. I also want to focus on fleshing out Pete's character as well. Considering he has stuck to the background alot
VSGUIDE: Wow....it sounds like you have some very promising things planned. Now as for Trinity as a whole, What are your plans with the remainder of the season?
KARL: Well first step....is to refresh myself. [Laughs]. I have been catching up reading the episodes and old notes Chris kept around and trying to re-familiarize myself with the material. Second step is to finish the remainder of the 19 episodes and tell some kick ass stories. Third step is to prep for Season Three. Because I have faith that we will get it.
VSGUIDE: That all sounds like you have your hands full. Another thing that has everyone puzzled is that with all the stops and starts of Trinity, Its sister series [Watchtower], has ended its Second season. Are the shows still synced together?
KARL: If youre asking if Watchtower season 2 and Trinity season 2 go side by side....then yes thats correct. In one of the episodes.....We will get a reference to WT. In what capacity....you will just have to wait and see.
VSGUIDE: Being Cryptic? You will definitely go far as showrunner? Now one last question for this interview......Can you say when Trinity will for sure return?
KARL: Well the plan is to get all of Season Two released before the end of the year. But my the new plan is around December 2012 almost early January 2013. But knowing my luck it will be late January.
VSGUIDE: Alright [laughs]. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us
KARL: It was my pleasure. I just hope Im up to this huge task.
