I hated the Green Lantern movie. Why did they have to have Ryan Reynolds star in it. He made it suck It was probably less about the actor and more about the writing or the director's changes to the script, to be honest. The X-Men movies weren't all that great either considering, but it wasn't the actors that made it bad, it was the writing and the director's changes to the original script.

I'm pretty sure it was the poor CGI and lack luster story that made it suck more than Ryan Reynolds. I thought he was okay, not the best actor in the world but yeah.

I thought the actors actually did fairly well portraying the characters they were given. Like they said, the writing wasn't the best, and the whole movie was CGI, not the best CGI at that, but, yeah, I thought Ryan Reynolds did pretty good. XD

I would have cast Chris Pine personally, but I think Ryan Reynolds did a pretty good job with what he had to work with.

Okay, so I maybe looking up some Amazing Spider-man 2 info and discovered that Dane DeHaan will be playing Harry Osborn...Um, yes please!! That kid was amazing in Chronicle and he's the perfect casting for Harry for sure! However I'm a little iffy on their selection for Mary-Jane Watson... Shailene Woodley from The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I don't know, I just don't see it. I'm a little intrigue with Jamie Foxx playing Electro. He's a fantastic actor and will probably do a great job in the role but I would of never thought of him playing Electro. I don't know. Lol. So I may be really excited for this film, especially since it doesn't come out til 2014 and that's if a script is written, and the damn thing is film in time Lol.

I was really iffy on their selection for Mary Jane as well, but I think, since they seem to be going a more...Ultimate Spider-Man route, she might work. I think she could definitely pull off Ultimate Mary Jane Watson. Mainstream MJ? Not so much, I don't think -- but Kirsten Dunst DID give her blessing on it, which is kinda cool. I'm just afraid I'll judge her in comparison to Kirsten Dunsts' MJ, who I loved for several reasons, even if she wasn't always sassy and fun-loving like she is in the mainstream comics.

What confuses me is how people hate something in one movie yet love it in another thing of a similar genre. Examples. People say they didn't like "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin" because they were too campy and unrealistic. However, the old "Batman" TV series in the 1960s was even campier and more unrealistic than those movies were, and yet IT became a classic. Another thing is how many movies are hated because they were too different from the book they based it on. How about the 1930s adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz?" It remains a classic to this day, and was almost NOTHING like the book.

Everyone has to go see The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro. I honestly think I'm going to go see it again in cinemas, even though I haven't seen the sequel to Captain America yet (which Chris keeps telling me I have to, and I really do want to), but this movie was just off the charts incredible. I don't want to over hype it so I will say the introduction of Max Dillon and getting his origin out of the way was done in such a ridiculous way that I thought this movie was going to be terrible, but it all ties back in at the end and when you look at his character, and his arc as a whole having finished the movie you appreciate the way it was done so much more. Other than that, if you're a fan of Peter and Gwen's relationship, you'll love them even more in this one, and their chemistry is just... ugh, when they have their intimate moments, the movie just stops, and you forget about everything else that is going on in the film for those scenes. Its just something that I have rarely seen done before in movies. Plus, they have their own conflicts and roadblocks in their journey to find happiness with each other, one being the fact that Gwen's father died in the first film and Peter promised him to keep away from Gwen in order to protect her, and the obstacles that come with wanting to keep her safe, and wanting to be with her because he loves her, and another involves an offer to study at England for Gwen which complicates things even more, especially towards the end of the film. Harry Osbourne is also introduced in this film and they really focus on his own personal history, his father, and most of all his friendship with Peter. He was definitely a highlight of the film for me. Another highlight of the film would definitely be its focus on Peter Parker's parents, and the reasons behind why they left, where they are, and what makes them so crucial to the story. As well as that, they are really shaping Oscorp up to be the main threat of this entire film series; you have your Lizard, and Electro, and Green Goblin, and all these iconic villains from the comic books, but these films have really found a way to connect them all under this umbrella of Oscorp which is one of the huge links between these movies that I hope remains consistent because I feel like everything is building up towards taking them down. Oscorp is the Wolfram and Hart of the Spider-Man series. It honestly is. Also, if I'm being completely honest, I'm enjoying these Amazing Spider-Man films to the degree I enjoyed The Dark Knight Trilogy, and maybe even a bit more. I hope you guys go and see it and let me know what you think in this thread because I need people to talk to about the level of awesomeness in this film c:

- “Wonder Woman,” starring Gal Gadot (2017)
- “Justice League Part One,” directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
- “The Flash,” starring Ezra Miller (2018)
- “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa (2018)
- “Shazam” (2019)
- “Justice League Part Two,” directed by Zack Snyder (2019)
- “Cyborg,” starring Ray Fisher (2020)
- “Green Lantern” (2020)

This is going to blow back on DC hard. Man of Steel was a movie I found bland and took itself way too seriously and Batman V Superman I'm predicting will be a bloated mess. The rest...it's possible they will do well though I doubt it. Marvel was able to sell Guardians of the Galaxy to the mass public, but Marvel is a huge name in the movie industry, especially with its Cinematic Universe. DC on the the other hand, hasn't got so much good will after disasters like Green Lantern.
In my amateur opinion, this is going to go bad. DC has proven itself to do good on TV but in the movie industry, unless it has Batman on the cover, I don't see these movies selling well.

A fair opinion, given DC's past. I plan on staying moderately optimistic, though I'm a lot more confident in where the MCU is heading these days. They seem to be rehashing the same old formula they've been using since phase one, but it works, so I can't really blame them.
I'm just glad they're doing something. Anything is better than nothing, and I have hope that at least half of these movies will end up being decent. I think one of the main problems I have with DC is, they don't have enough talent on their roster. They seem to recycle the same three writers and producers over and over again with every new project, and I feel like they need to branch out a bit more. If I see Zack Snyder's name on another DC property I think I'll have an aneurysm.
I haven't really kept up with any news regarding this new slate, other than the titles themselves, so they may be doing better where that's concerned. But I don't know.
Edit: I really should make separate threads for Marvel and DC discussion. Having everything packed in together might be a bit confusing. But at this point, it might be too late.

All I'm going to say about the DC Movie Slate is that I'm very excited to see what they're going to do. Also, props for them actually giving Wonder Woman a solo movie, lol. But anyways...
I watched Captain America: TFA and TWS and... holy... crap. HAHA. TFA wasn't anything mind blowing, it was just a fairly enjoyable film, but TWS - OH. MY. GOD. I loved it. I love Steve Rogers. I love Sam Wilson. I love Natasha Romanoff. I NEED CAP 3, LIKE, YESTERDAY.
