Genre: Sci-Fi/Action/Drama Rating: TV-MA (17+) Features: Language, violence, MAY contain mature/adult content Tagline: Defenders sworn to fight PREMISE SEVERAL MILLION YEARS AGO…Mystics of a distant planet known as Eltar prophesied the emergence of six young adults, imbued with the ancient power of six unique spirits of the then-present day Earth (65,000,000 BC). They told the people of Eltar that these six people, three males and three females, known as the “Rangers” would emerge several million years in the future. These Rangers would be the only soldiers capable of countering a new coming war, but it was said that they would not yet be ready for the battle and the order of the galaxy as we know it would fall. Zordon of Eltar (PATRICK STEWART), a veteran who imprisoned Rita Repulsa (KELLY HU) and put an end to the first galactic war, was determined not to let this happen. He opened a rift which he contained in a large stasis chamber of sorts. In this chamber, he was able to project an image of himself into present day Earth. His goal? Bring the Rangers together in time to prepare them for the battle that decides the fate of not only the Earth, but perhaps even the Universe itself. PRESENT DAY EARTH (NEAR FUTURE)Using his advanced alien technology, he created a series of androids, all of which failed except for one—Alpha 5. Alpha 5 served as his presence in the present day, but was built with a mind of a human around the same age as the Rangers themselves. Alpha 5 built a vast Command Center, fixed with alien technologies far more advanced than anything Earth itself had to offer. In the core of the Command Center, Zordon’s time-rift containment tube was erected to allow him contact with the Rangers at will. Fitting the Rangers with their abilities by unlocking them with special “Power Coins” attuned to their ancient abilities, Zordon knew that filling them in on their supposed destiny was likely to overwhelm them and turn them away from their responsibilities. Instead, he tells them that they are part of an underground operation to eliminate all alien lifeforms on Earth known as the R.A.N.G.E.R.S (Readily Armed Neocosmic & Global Entity Resistance Squad). Their job is to hunt and take down any signs of alien life without the public knowing of the extraterrestrial beings and without revealing their own true identities to the public. The Earth's fate has been set in motion, and with the recent re-emergence of Rita Repulsa, the battle has already begun. MAIN CAST JOANNA HOLMES | portrayed by Kristen Bell The Dragon. Joanna is fun and flirty, with a strong personality that commands her team. She'd give up her own life to protect each and every one of them, but at the same time she brings jest to the group. Despite this playful side, however, she can be very serious when it calls for it and she takes it very hard when she cannot protect innocent lives or her team. RYAN SUMMERS | portrayed by Sophia Bush The Tyrannosaurus. Ryan is protective, spunky and full of wit and sarcasm. She knows how to lighten a situation, but her mouth tends to get her in trouble at times, especially when it merges with her occasional spurts of confidence. Underneath the light and fun side, however, lie deep insecurities and vulnerabilities that could put her and her team in jeopardy. NATHAN SYNDER | portrayed by Gregory Smith The Tricerotops. Nathan is incredibly intelligent, having graduated high school at sixteen years old, but also very socially awkward. He's friendly and sweet with seemingly no capability to be mean to anyone. However, that can quickly change when it needs to. FRANKIE MARTIN | portrayed by Bruno Mars The Sabretooth. Frankie doesn't take crap from people and he is not afraid to beat you down a size. He has certain skills due to his time in the mafia and even though he left that life behind he still maintains contacts. Despite this past, Frankie is passionate and friendly and even a sweetheart when he wants to be. CLODAGH MURPHY | portrayed by Brittany Snow The Pterodactyl. Clodagh had a hard time making friends when she moved from her homeland, Ireland, to live with her uncle in the states. However, that did not stop her loving and motherly attitude, becoming a teacher favorite in her culinary school. Despite her families' dark history, Clodagh is a tough young woman full of wisdom beyond her years that people are eager to absorb. DALE CAMERON | portrayed by Theo James The Mastodon. Dale is known for his bad attitude. He tends to be hypocritical and is more concerned with his own feelings than anyone else's. He's hard-headed and strong-willed, which is possibly his best asset and his greatest flaw. While he isn't a particular fan of most of his teammates, he fights alongside them without hesitation. REOCCURRING CAST ZORDON | voiced by Patrick Stewart The Overseer. Zordon is a wise, compassionate soul with good intentions, though his ways of achieving his goals have been questionable and perhaps unethical. He means well for his Rangers, and looks after them as best as he can. RITA REPULSA | portrayed by Kelly Hu The Conqueror. Once the lover of a galactic leader, Rita is a ruthless woman who aims to get what she wants at all costs. She's sadistic, and has been known to use even family to give herself an advantage. With her sight set on the prophesied six, they're surely on a crash course straight to hell. EPISODE GUIDE Summaries are brief and subject to change. These are basic ideas. LINK: supershaniax.weebly.com/uploads/1/1/2/6/11260557/rangerspilotteaserpreview.pdf 1x01 - Pilot / Power Within Zordon (Patrick Stewart) has found his Rangers, but he isn't bringing them on board without a test. Contacting the first three, he fits them with certain resources and gives them a single goal: find the last three. However, it proves to be much more difficult a task than they expected.
1x02 - Crash Course Fitted with their new abilities, the Rangers are put through a crash course on everything they need to know about their new responsibilities and their powers -- including their weapons and special, technologically advanced suits known as Zords. Special guest appearance not yet cast.
- 1x06 - The Red Candle (Part One) [Mid-Season Finale]
Joanna is taken by Rita to an artificially created dimension. Using these same means, she manifests Joanna's powers into a candle that, once lit, will slowly eliminate the ancient power within the Ranger -- and more than likely kill her in the process. But is it simply to get back at Zordon, or is there a more sinister plot at work? And with Joanna literally ticking away with the clock, can the rest of the Rangers find their way into the dimension before it's too late?
- 1x07 - Title Omitted to Avoid Potential Spoilers (Part Two)
Conclusion to The Red Candle.
- More episodes may be added, but several have been cut to avoid heavy spoilers.
NOTES FROM THE CREATORS - Completely redesigned reboot of Haim Saban's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". That said, this series will be much darker than the original show, which was aimed towards children. This one is aimed towards a much older audience.
- The Rangers have all been given new concepts for both their suits and their Zords to appeal to modern times and a darker world. While they have a homage to their original designs, they've been completely re-done. The suits have been given an almost SWAT-Team look, and the Zords have been given a more humanoid suit appearance. (Think Iron Man or Samus Aran)
- Rangers Suit Concept: fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/030/c/8/mmpr_by_know_kname-d2wzqjz.jpg | In the above image, the colors would of course be altered to fit the colors we have. (Black is Pink, White is Red, Red is Blue, Pink is Purple, and Blue is Green)
PRODUCTION CREW CREATOR(S): Aimee Nicole & Maddie Funderburg EXECUTIVE PRODUCER(S): Chris Davis CREATIVE CONSULTANT: Miranda Kilgore HEAD WRITER(S): Aimee Nicole & Maddie Funderburg STAFF WRITER(S): Monica Ann FREELANCE WRITER: Miranda Kilgore PRODUCTION NOTES - 2/25/12 - "Notes from the Creators" updated with the Rangers' suit concept. Omgomgomg. I think this pitch is AMAZING. I used to watch the Power Rangers ALL THE TIME. I loved them! LOL. I love the fact that you added a "Purple Ranger" and that you made a female the leader of the group! I really hope this gets picked up! I would follow it religiously. ;D

This is amazing... I can't wait to see what you do with it! You know, WHEN you get picked up. Also, this would be theVPN's first sci fi show, wouldn't it?

@brady - Thanks! We were all huge Power Rangers fans, too, and there seems to be an adult reboot of everything BUT the Rangers. We're really excited about this.
@amin - Thanks for the support, as always. <3 We hope you guys like it as much as we do. XD And...yeah, I think so. We don't have any Sci-Fi shows on here at the moment do we?
Also, I fixed the acronym. I left out a word. It's the Readily Armed Neocosmic & Global ENTITY Resistance Squad. My bad. XD

First of all, this is a great pitch. Its definitely something I'm interested in reading, and would like to see come to life in some way, shape or form. So, count me in for a pilot. I'm glad its taking a more mature approach, and I hope thats just not in regards to relationships, sexuality, etc. I'd love to see darker elements, even a darker tone, which I can sort of sense in the pitch, so thumbs up for that.
I do have issues with it, though --
1. At the moment you've got the Outcasts and you're also doing work on Age of Heroes, juggling another show seems really risky, and rather impossible, actually. I'm not sure if this was part of the plan, but perhaps you could turn this idea into a mini-series, with a limited number of episodes per season (6-8, or 10-12). Or, a webisode series.
2. Missy Peregrym. The character you have in mind for her seems rather parallel to Melanie, in some aspects -- I'd very much like to see someone new for her. I understand, you, as the showrunner for 'Outcasts' gets the choice of whether or not your cast can appear on another show, but I really would prefer someone new. I don't have as much a problem with Patrick Stewart, but if you found someone new for Zordon too, that would be icing on the cake.
The characters are all great, you've got a good combination of different personalities, and I think they'll all work well off each other, so I'm really looking forward to a pilot - and I don't think there's much more I can say until then. Good luck with this!

I'm glad its taking a more mature approach, and I hope thats just not in regards to relationships, sexuality, etc. I'd love to see darker elements, even a darker tone, which I can sort of sense in the pitch, so thumbs up for that. The "mature" aspect covers pretty much everything, I think. Relationships, sexuality, as well as darker elements. Particularly with the aliens. None of that giant space pig and skeleton in mage clothing and that BS from the original. We're thinking more on the lines of...think Dead Space and Silent Hill. Not only that, but the actual plot and stuff surrounding the aliens is a much darker. I do have issues with it, though -- 1. That was a concern for us as well, but the way I plan on juggling Outcasts and this series, I should be able to do it. The way Maddie and I split the workload for Outcasts and Age of Heroes should leave the both of us sufficient time to do this series as well. That said, we've also got two other dedicated writers on the project to take over when I need to focus on other things. But I do understand your concern, and if the workload becomes too much, we realize that we do have these other options. R.A.N.G.E.R.S seasons also probably would not be as long as an Outcasts season, as well, so there is also that. As for Missy Peregrym, I'm not sure whether or not I can recast her because while we've just pitched this series, we've had it in mind for a while and she is the one in my mind for Ryan. However, I will take it into consideration. Patrick Stewart is much more likely to be recasted, as Zordon is a character that won't really be focused on for a while and I don't quite have Patrick Stewart completely in my head yet so it won't be as hard to recast him. So I'll discuss it with the other writers, and like I said it's likely to recast Zordon but I honestly cannot make any promises for Ryan. The characters are all great, you've got a good combination of different personalities, and I think they'll all work well off each other, so I'm really looking forward to a pilot - and I don't think there's much more I can say until then. Good luck with this! Thanks so much for the feedback, Jack! We'll be working on the pilot throughout the next month or so, and we'll have it up as soon as it's ready. We're really excited about this project and can't wait to see if something can come out of it.

I love the concept, and how you're revising the original into a show more suited for mature audiences. I always look for that in reboots of this kind, and you've definitely got it here. Another thing I really like, are the characters. You've got a nice, diverse set of them and it will be interesting to get to know more about all of them once the pilot has been written. I don't know why but I think Joan and Frankie will be my favorites xD Oh, and obviously Ryan, because like Jack said, she has many of the same traits as Melanie. However, I do agree with him about recasting, it's up to you in the end.
I'm really excited about reading a pilot. Best of luck to you!

We made a point to kinda severe it from the ties of the original show, as I've told you, but still keep similarities and tie in some things that we loved about the show and stuff. It took us a little while to decide on a concept, so I'm really glad you guys like what we have. I wanna thank you for your help in devising parts of the concept, and for suggesting "Theo James" as the casting for Dale. He is definitely the definition of sunglasses-at-night-indoors kinda douchebag XD We can't wait to start on the pilot!

A little update. The pilot is in the works, and the role of Ryan Summers has been recast. We've also put up an episode icon for the pilot episode, "Power Within"

Now, I'm probably a bit old for the original series although I remember seeing little clips here and there. I think the concept of the show has, and should have appealed to an older generation if they dropped the 'kids idea' behind it all and developed by someone with a wider concept of the creation. The idea behind this pitch is interesting in this avenue, as it drops the 'childrens show' that it was and takes it into the new generation of more late teens/adult generation. The pitch does look interesting and if done right could prove well, as the characters are there and the idea of the show and what could bring to it in good fight scenes, battles against evil trying to overthrow the world etc is always exciting to watch. Has a good cast for the show already chosen, and be interesting to have a read of the pilot when written to see which road you take it down and what you add to the original concept. Will say, I do love the Rangers logo you created at the top, and the idea of the suits gives it that new edge to the characters that fits an update well. Looking forward to a pilot

I think thus far, we have done it very well and our plans for the series as a whole is definitely faaaar different than the original show, while at the same time -- it's very similar in ways. We hope it lives up to your guys' expectations, and can't wait to release the pilot.
