Ooh thanks for that I will be keeping an eye out! Also I think it is time for a new discussion question.
:: It has been said an old friend from somewhere in series 2-4 will be appearing. Who do you think it is or who do you want it to be?::

Review: 1.02"Taboo"
Generally, the second episode of a new series isn't as great as the pilot, but "Taboo" really held its own, and told a fantastic story for Rose and John's first adventure in the TARDIS.
Rose and John take us to this planet, Enorcant, introducing us to this "looks can be deceiving" world with a society of psychics plagued under this High Priestess' tyranny (Ayune). Despite the antagonist established early on, and the problem that is weighing over all these people, the issues that surface between Rose and John prove to be the most captivating story involved, as the episode very much deals with John's identity, outside of "The Doctor" shell that he's trapped in, and what other way to do that than to juggle life and death in front of him! I thought it was perfect how John was faced with the decision to kill, or not to kill. One of the Doctor's most defining characteristics is that he is this pacificst character who would never purposefully inflict harm on others, so to have John be faced with either sticking to those ideals, or branching out of that and killing someone who "deserves it" was such a brilliant idea. I loved it! To have Rose enforce those ideals, as it is something "The Doctor" wouldn't do, only drove it home that John isn't him, and there is this huge question mark over who John is, and more importantly, who he wants to be. And I think, having the Rose/John relationship develop alongside that adds such an emotional element to the story that I really, really enjoyed.
You definitely deserve props for really establishing this planet, and the important figures within it. I specifically loved Mali's role in the episode, and how she was worked into the story. You focused a great deal on the characters confined in this world, which really helped glue me into the story. I cared about Mali, and there were times where I thought: "She better not die." Then, when she had to join the stream, and she feared death, I was actually concerned for her - so again, props to you for really developping and establishing this world, and its society. A lot of the time, all you want to read is about your favourite character, relationships, or at the very least, the main character of the show - but you made me interested in the lives of these one-off characters.
"I see two wolves. Running together, but... alone. Alone and sad. They're running from hunters... tracking them, trying to kill them. One wolf dies."
The prophecy was my favourite aspect of the episode. You have this character who we don't really know, other than what we can gain from his origins (The Doctor/Donna Noble), and this idea that his identity is yet to be shaped and solidified was really stressed during the episode, so to throw in this prophecy about his future - well, simply put, I loved it! It had a really powerful effect, and it really makes me want to tune in for the whole season to find out how this prophecy is addressed in later episodes, and how it may come into play later down the track. Then again, I'm going to be reading nontheless. XD
There was some predictability in the episode. Going into it, I could tell that Rose was going to be captured after we learned so much about the "Sacrifices", and I could foresee certain other elements that sort of killed the excitement - but then, just as I thought Rose and John had stopped Ayune, she runs onto the blade, and then the transition begins, and you really caught me by surprise. As well as that, Mali joining the stream, and the society all joining together to stop Ayune was a great twist, and so, much like Doctor Who, I was caught off guard when I least expected it. So again, props to you. I was worried I would come out of this episode going: "Well, I could tell what was going to happen from the start." But the way things wrapped up... I was pleasantly surprised!
The only problem I had in the episode was the use of flashbacks, more specifically, John's, when he recounts the blowout between him and Rose at the beginning of the episode. That moment was still so fresh in my mind that I felt recapping it in the form of a flashback was really unnecessary. Uhm... other than that, I thought this was a phenomenal episode - the relationship between Rose and John is developping at a really good pace, John's identity is being brought up, the characters and the world our duo travelled to was established perfectly, and you ended with a great twist to the conflict.
A really strong episode for Bad Wolf! 9/10.

Response to Jack's Review of 1x02::
When I first started to read this I thought you were about to say it was horrible XD but then the finish made me feel better. I'm glad that the second episode didn't suck! I have been really worried about it.
I am glad that you liked this a lot I was afraid somebody might think that the characterization was off or something. Ten II/John was described as what the Doctor was like when Rose met him and as I was writing I considered the idea when Rose first met a dalek and this kinda mimics that. We get to see her trying to make him a better person in the same way that she did before, but here it is different because it is not his hated rival.
Mali, like I said before, wasn't supposed to be a big character or have a name, or anything. She just kinda...shoved herself into the story and became extremely important. I'm glad that she caused such concern. In the next episode I worked on developing the characters and giving them purpose and back story so I hope that they will be just as good as these.
Oh the prophecy...I hadn't intended on making one at all and when I did I was like "OH MY GOSH I CAN SET UP THE WHOLE SEASON" Yes this prophecy will be coming into play in a VERY fun way for me. I wanted this to be powerful and I'm glad that it worked out. And HOORAY for you tuning in!
I was afraid of being predictable I really was...and I'm not going to lie I had no idea planned for how to vanquish Ayune until I was actually writing the scene...so I guess that accounts for the unpredictability. I knew Ayune was going to stab herself but that was it. I'm glad it reminded you of Doctor Who because that is what I shoot for!
I can see what you mean by the flashbacks, but in my head I was thinking about it like ac actual TV show and it was coming back from a commercial break. In retrospect it was needless for a VS but that was my reasoning.
I'm pleased that Rose and John still seem real and in character because that is my biggest fear...of many.
Thanks so much for the 9/10 I'm glad everyone is liking it!

Review: 1.02 "Tabbo"
Okay, first of all, the Beatles joke was just pure genius. Okay, now onto the review!
In the Teaser, you have done an amazing job of establishing this planet, and it's inhabitants. Your characters are clearly defined, and it looks like you know what they want to do. So you definitely can't be faulted for that.
Mali was a character I especially enjoyed. She was really the only guest-star character I cared about. XD Not to say the others were bad, but Mali was indeed my favorite. And Ayune is a great villain for this episode, and you portrayed her very well. And the interactions between Rose and John are still amazing. I love them, and they make for some hilarious dialogue! XD
And the whole prophecy thing was one of my favorite scenes of the entire episode, along with the scenes building up to it. Rose being confused about John stabbing Ayune really was nice. It showed what type of character she wants he to be. That she doesn't want him to kill anyone. Great job!!
The whole argument with Rose and John, after Mali read the prophecy was nice. It showed what has been building up inside John, and showing that yes, he knows he's not the Doctor.
I feel like the flashback was a bit needless. It had happened, only a couple of pages before. And even if this was a television show, I don't think we would've needed to see it again.
Mali becoming the hero at the end was a nice little...twist if you will. You would never expect her character to be that brave, because at the beginning she seemed helpless and scared. Yay, Mali! XD
So, all-in-all, this was a pretty great episode. You introduced us to a new world, just like a Doctor Who show should do. I can't wait for the next episode, and see when this prophecy is brought up again!
9/10 -- a great second episode!

I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to read Bad Wolf but he has this thing about any kind of fan works, always thinks they're not going to do the series justice or get characterisation right, etc. (he's a huge Doctor Who fan). He says he'll maybe give it a read after the fourth episode is up (because he also has a thing about printing things off in bulk and reading them that way XD). I'll let you know what he thinks if I can get him to hurry up and read it!

Now I wish the fourth episode was up now XD. My editor ran off last night before finishing the episode so it will have to be put up some time today. If he does read it I certainly look forward to what he has to say about it! I really want to please fans with this series because I'm a crazy fan too and I obsess over getting the details just so. If he has good or bad things to say I certainly could use the constructive criticism.
