I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but just in case I haven't...
I will definitely be following this series when it airs. I cannot wait for an air date. Your blend of genres here really causes the show to stand out in many ways. The Supernatural vibe is one of my favorite genres of writing. And with the COP DRAMA setting and undertones (I'm assuming, because of the idea of a paranormal investigative team) Edge of Vision should be something to remember.
Do you have a guesstimate on when "Edge of Vision" will premiere?

Thank you Jason Yes, it is very much a cop drama style of show with the supernatural overtones. Probably more emphasis on the supernatural side of things but all the cop show action is still there As for a premiere date... I don't want to get any hopes up, because nothing is set in stone, but I'm hoping we can premiere early April, around the same time as The Path and Watchtower

I'm really hoping to see this up and running soon! This was by far one of the best pilots I've ever read for a virtual series. So captivating and exciting. I think I gave it a 9/10. It was superb. So I can't wait to read this and get involved in the whole season! xD

Trust me, I want to get this show up and running but this year has been way busier than I anticipated so far. At the moment I've got no idea when it'll start airing. Hopefully soon but you could be waiting a while still, depending on how things work out. Sorry everyone!

I think that your first episode is fantastic. Each of the characters seem like they've been well developed so that you can see each of their individual personalities from the beginning. You've created a suspenseful mystery which makes me what to read the next episode, to find out both what the deal is with the demon chasing after Victoria as well as leaving us on a cliffhanger. Your story has good flow and I like the set up of both the world and characters you've created. Overall I think you've made a good start and I'm looking forward to seeing where your series progresses to, Good luck. 8/10

Review: "Out of Sight (Part One)" ~ Edge of Vision
Wow. What else is there to say, really. I mean, honestly, I remember, as I was reading this episode, why it was such a great candidate for being picked up, and I instantly fell back in love with the series after not having read the pilot since the show was pitched. Right off the bat, there's a mystery introduced, and the entire episode is spent following this investigation, and introducing these characters, their jobs, and the certain divisions of the DCIU.
First there's Victoria -- a great detective who tends to have the ability to be able to sense demonic work. I got the impression early on it was some sort of sixth sense, but I was still a bit unsure as to whether it was some sort of ability, or just emphasizing on the fact taht she's a great detective. Either way, it works. It adds a really good layer to her character and gives her a purpose as to why she's the main focus of the series. Hell, maybe she's part demon, or as the show unwravels, we learn demons aren't the only thing in this universe. So, I don't know. It kind of just added an element to Victoria that made her seem special, and more interesting. Then there are the supporting characters ...
There's Lloyd -- Victoria's partner. I felt he was a character that I was indifferent to. There were moments were he was enjoyable, and others were he just annoyed me. I kind of got the impression he puts himself up on a pedastal compared to everyone else, but I'm not sure if that's the intent. There is a bit of chemistry between him and Victoria, but not in the 'relationship' sense. But the partnership does work, and I did enjoy it for the most part.
Next up, there's Dr. Cassie Brewer, who is probably one of my favourite characters. She works in the morgue, and very much brings a brighter element to the show. I found the series has a very, very dark tone, and when picturing the scenes, I can see very dark lighting, and colours. Cassie's humor sort of fights that a bit. I really enjoyed her interactions with Victoria, especially in the third act. Then there's Adam, who is the 'computer genius' of the team, and Nora, who appears to be in charge of everyone.
My favourite characters are: Victoria (of course!), Cassie and Adam.
The plot was really solid. I think the way you handled the serial killer case was really well done. It was not new to the characters, but for the audience it was, and whilst the mystery of it all drew us in, and as the episode progressed we learnt more and more about this case, until, at the very end we seemed to be caught up with the characters. The technical jargon used is also very beautifully done, and I think that it really does read like those CSI shows you see on television -- so points for realism.
I really did feel like this was a perfect episode. The only little qualms I had with it were:
A) I felt the teaser ran a bit too long; B) The episode ended a touch abrubtly, in a way that, whilst, yes, was a cliffhanger, felt more 'cut off' than 'tune in next week to find out what happens...'
Overall, the pilot was great. Ultimately, all the characters were given fantastic introductions, and the plot, although not new for the characters, was easy to follow and enjoy. The mystery, and the case unwravelling in the pilot were really intriguing, and I'm excited to see how far this mystery extends, where the characters will be taken, and what lies next. I'd give this episode a 9.5/10. It was mainly just the really abrubt ending that I didn't enjoy, especially for a pilot. I understand there are two parts to the premiere, but they air separately. In terms of introducing everything, and setting all the elements you need in a pilot up, I'd give you full marks, but its primarily the ending that didn't sit well with me.

Unfortunately Lloyd is the character I had the most trouble writing. Even though I had a very clear idea of what I wanted him to be like in my mind it hasn't quite translated onto paper XD For clarification, Lloyd is supposed to be 'the gruff but talented and experienced detective' but I can totally see where you got the impression he puts himself on a pedestal. Lloyd is well respected by the other members of the DCIU so they tend to view him as a peg above the rest. Couple that with Lloyd's own personality trait of trying to keep a professional demeanour when working (which is probably hard when working with Victoria ) and not getting to emotionally involved could make him seem a little... aloof XD Without getting too spoilery I will say that Lloyd's role in the show will change as of the second episode and hopefully the better sides of his character will be more evident in the writing then I'm so glad you like Cassie. I get the feeling she's going to be a bit of a fan favourite but that's okay because I totally LOVE writing the scenes she'd in Considering they'll probably be getting the most screen time I'm glad they're your favourites ^^ I also can't wait to see what your opinion of Shayne Grey is... Considering most (actually, probably all) my technical jargon knowledge comes from simply watching crime shows, this is quite the complement! I'm glad that I can make it seem realistic with my somewhat limited knowledge Haha, you managed to pick out one of the other things I had trouble with when writing this episode XD I'm well aware that the teaser is almost double that of what a regular teaser would be but unfortunately I couldn't see another way of writing it at the time. I wanted the crime scene to be at the end of the teaser but there was a fair bit I had to set up before that point, hence the overlong teaser. Thanks so much for the review Jack! It's great hearing what you think of Edge of Vision and I appreciate the time you took to write this review

So I finally finished reading the first episode, and though Abnormal Psychology (My major, XD) does teach me the basics of the transcendence in human nature and the nature beyond humanity, I have to say first this was a unique twist on the demonology world I study. A sort of parallel universe so to speak that is opposite our own. Based on theories from Quantum Physics, the study of such things, a world of this caliber isn't only possible but tangible. Even with the flaws of humanity, we are still a deceptively peaceful people, and with the other humans, these, "Demons," you have created, fit well into your story. So props for that.
I am interested in however, with this fracture allowing horrible murderers into the world, I was sort of wondering if there will be a group of people designed to researching how to CLOSE it. I know that this story is set around solving the murders of the demons, and I may be thinking too far ahead on this one, but it might be interesting.... I forgot where I was going with that... ONWARD. XD
I really like all of the characters, even Lloyd. For most people, segregating character's mannerisms and actions proves difficult. I watch a lot of tv shows where the characters start blending into one another and suddenly I am not certain who is who anymore. However, I felt that none of them overshadowed the other. Especially Victoria. I know that she is the main cast member, but it wouldn't be a real true story without everyone else. Otherwise, why even have a supporting cast? So even with her being a strong character, a central focus, I don't feel that she outshines everyone to the point it should be called: "Victoria's Edge of Vision." All of the characters, even Nora, have their own quirks of which I greatly appreciate. I look forward to witnessing their dynamics as the story progresses.
For the story itself, it was easy to read and even easier to follow. I was not straining to imagine it all in my head. You seem to know your way around a detective show, so that the lingo and professionalism is still there, despite no one really acting like it all that much. So when Cassie is down in the morgue telling Victoria about the murders, it wasn't: "Oh, he killed her good with this here knife." It was in a professional voice despite her silly kind of nature. Something I am sure we can all appreciate.
I felt the episode ended abruptly as well, however I think I can look past that. Endings are really hard to do without being so entirely cliche. And for me it was more: "Crap, now I have to wait." Which is something my favorite show in the whole world, Fringe, does to me every single episode. So it's more frustration to find out what happened rather then just a flop.
The only real qualm I have with stories is that the main character has this.. uncanny ability to have all of these misfortunate things happen to them over and over again. Though this is the first episode, and I cannot draw any conclusions, I hope that the demons don't always make it a thing to grab Tori's attention. However for the first episode, it feels perfectly agreeable. Giving us a boost of drama so we can understand what to expect in later episodes.
Now, finally I am going to give this episode 10/10, because I don't feel that my qualms merit any value in terms of episode quality just yet. I felt it was a good start, with a great array of characters and a writer who has the knowledge of both. I look forward to reading the end of this two parter. Good job MJ. :3
