The latest episode was awesome.
The "sire bond" was an interesting twist, and something I suspected earlier on. It was really obvious in this episode, but then again, this show has a way of throwing in another twist to out-twist the first twist. I'm saying twist too much, aren't I? Anyway, I'm not sure all is what it appears to be, but I hope they leave it at "sire bond", because I'm not a fan of Damon/Elena, and I think they set it up nicely that there's another force at play here than just, "I'm confused about my feelings, therefore, I should have crazy, slamming-against-walls-and-doors sex with your brother."
My eye for Damon/Bonnie spotted something nice in this episode for the "shipper" in me of those two, and that was when Shane and Damon were discussing about Bonnie's role in all of it. Shane was basically like, "who do you think she's going to trust when she's forced to choose sides" or whatever, and I'm like... aw yeah, they could do some cool "Bamon" stuff with that storyline. Ultimately, I think Bonnie is heading down a dark path, and Damon is going to be the one to help her out of it. I just really like these two. Then again, I'm pretty sure Julie Plec said there's going to be, like, six seasons, so... I can wait. XD
I'm really loving all the interactions between both Caroline/Stefan and Caroline/Klaus. Caroline was very vocal about her feelings towards Elena/Damon in this episode, and I think it was nice to see someone actually articulate my thoughts on that ship in the most intelligent and accurate way possible... "euuugghhhh." Hahaha. But no, it sucks that Caroline is getting hate for that. Damon DID rape her in season one, more than once, might I add, and had her basically be his "bitch" for a good chunk of those first few episodes.
Anyway, this season is pretty damn good so far. I was close to dropping it after the premiere, but its picked up pace really well, and the storylines are all pretty damn interesting. I especially love the search for the cure, and how Jeremy and Bonnie both factor into it all. Its looking like a really good season so far. XD

Just got caught up with this show. I missed the last two episodes. Wow. It's really starting to pick up. The never ending love triangle is beginning, well... it's been getting on my nerves for a while now, but I think I've just accepted it as a part of the show. I'm always going back and forth between liking Elena with Stefan, to liking Elena with Damon, to wishing she would just end it with both of them and move on; so much that I just don't even care about it anymore. There are more interesting plots to focus on, like what's going on with Jeremy. I am so glad the writers are giving him an interesting storyline this season. Because he's such a good character, but they haven't given him much to work with in the past few seasons.
Also, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to enjoy Tyler's role a little more. The whole "Alpha" plot in the latest episode was interesting, and it might be my obsession with Teen Wolf talking, but maybe they're really trying to make these characters more interesting. Hell, even Matt is getting a bit more focus. I'm liking this season so far.
I don't know what they're going to end up doing with Bonnie, but the seeds to her dark path are being planted, and I can't wait to see where she ends up. My favorite characters based on their roles this season, so far, are Jeremy and Bonnie. I think I'm even opening up to Caroline and Klaus, just because her and Tyler are terrible together.
So, overall this season is looking very good. Besides the Damon/Elena/Stefan thing that seems to just never go away (unfortunately), I'm really enjoying it.

Yeah, the sire bond was definitely just a way to keep the triangle alive and well. It's really annoying. But the sire bond idea as to how it's form was interesting. Obviously Elena had feelings for Damon and Stefan before she died, but there could only be one... Lol. And she chose Stefan, doesn't mean the feelings weren't there for Damon. So the sire bond as a whole is interesting. Black magic... hell yes! Was anyone else secretly hoping that the sire bond breaking spell worked and that Bonnie would of had to kill 12 people? Could that be what the hybrids are for? Could there death make the person even more powerful because their hybrids? Human, Werewolf, Vampires... Oh my. Anyhow that's just my theory. For some reason since I started script writing I'm starting to see foreshadowing in shows more clearly. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :S

I know exactly what you mean about being able to foreshadow! I swear, I knew about this sire bond thing before the season even started. LMAO!

Really fed up with the fact of how many people they KILL on this show, and how they go about it, especially in the mid-season finale. Don't get me wrong, great episode, but seriously? Did we really need to witness 13 people getting killed on a CHRISTMAS EPISODE? And... When Carol died (honestly wish they wouldn't have killed her), they were playing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"... >.> Really? I mean, come on, TVD. And how whenever someone dies, the focus instantly goes back to ELENA. Omg, I wish she would leave, and get replaced by Katherine. PLEASE. But, yeah. That's my two cents so far.

^^ HAHA! It had the complete opposite effect on me. I loved that they killed her off and the hybrids. And I loved that they played Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, it was haunting and more powerful of a scene because of it. I love that Caroline and Stefan got more face time. Wouldn't they make a cute couple? Just sayin'. Caroline made me laugh when she had her neck broken. Some funny funny stuff. I'm really hoping 'chick who's name I can't remember because she's irrelevant to me' pulls out the dagger in Rebekah and brings her back so she can kick some serious Klaus/Stefan ass! Lol.

^^ I think her name might be... April? XD I don't know, but I'm starting to like her "not uselessness". I really hope Rebekah comes back (she probably will) and NOT get killed. AGAIN. XD

HAHA! I think you're right. April sounds familiar Lol. Yeah, I'm getting tired of poor Rebekah getting stabbed because they don't know what to do with her character for four episodes Lol.

Alright, I've finally caught up. Here's my thoughts in the season so far Elena is easily the worst part of it right now. I possibly hate her more than Bonnie and I never thought that possible. She had potential to change into a more active character as a vampire, but I guess not. It doesn't help that she drags down every single character she interacts with. She's more of a plot device than a character, and I wouldn't care if she happened to die. The "sire" storyline is the only slightly interesting thing happening to her and even the writers have managed to ruin that.
Now Klaus is the opposite. I liked him last season and I love him even more now. 13 kills in a single episode? He is easily one of the best characters on the show at the moment (till Elijah returns).
I'm glad Jeremy and Tyler finally have a storyline each, though I don't see Tyler making it out alive this season. Jeremy becoming a Hunter does seem very forced but at least it gives him something to do other than moping around. Also, why are they rehashing Jeremy/Bonnie? I thought we were past that.
As for the "Cure" storyline, I don't see it ending well for anyone. Elena getting the cure would be too easy. I could see Klaus getting it, especially if the writers want to kill him off, that would be the way. Also, I cannot wait to meet Silas. I've got a feeling he's not going to be the nicest guy around.
Pretty good first half, lots of potential, but WAY too much Elena and the god awful love triangle.
Current favourite characters: Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah, Damon, Katherine and Caroline. Least favourite characters: Elena and Bonnie

I'm still recovering from last night's episode. I'm not sure if I'm ready to talk about it yet... still in quite a state of shock. The Vampire Diaries hasn't done that to me since season two. LOL

I'm with you on this one. I don't wanna talk about it. Lol. However, I was happy to see Katharine again, even if it was to tear out our hearts. Lol.

Jesus Christ... This is season finale material, not an episode that isn't even a mid-season finale. They really ramped things up here.
So, Tyler is forced on the run with a pissed off Klaus on his tail, Bonnie is badly wounded, Katherine has the cure, Jeremy is dead, and Silas has awoken. Bloody hell.
I was told a major character would die in the episode. My guess all episode was Tyler. When Bonnie was stabbed, I thought it might be her. It never crossed my mind that Jeremy was the next to die.
Whoever did the look of Silas should get an award or something. You could feel how old he was just from his remains. That skin, that iron mask. And those eyes when he fed... I got chills.
Also, this is the third season in a row that Tyler has left around the mid-point. How many times can you leave a single town? Seriously, was anybody surprised by him leaving again?
I never thought it was Katherine on the island. After the events in Silas's tomb, I don't see any future meetings with her being very pleasant (not that they were in the past). My question is what does she want with the Cure? Nothing we know about her points to her wanting to be human. Does she want to use it on Klaus and finally be free? In any case, it was good to see her again.

Tyler needs to go and stay gone. This is like some kind of routine by now, and it's getting so old. As for Jeremy... part of me wants him to make a miraculous return, because he was becoming one of m favorite characters on the show. But the other part is hoping he stays dead. Because that was an epic death scene. Bringing him back would kind of ruin it.

Everyone on this show comes back after they die, even if it is a good death scene. So theres a chance we'll see him again. Matt is a medium right? Jeremy could make occasional appearances through him. Or if the legend is true, Silas might raise him.
Yeah, Tyler should return never. Ever. Let him live a long life in a peaceful place far away from Mystic Falls just so we don't have to see him again. Now only Matt needs to leave. And April as well. And bring Elijah back.

Someone, who I think has read the books, told me a possible situation that could happen. I don't know if it's entirely true, but I'll put it in a spoiler tag for people who... might not want any alternatives. XD Silas has the power to bring back the dead, right? Well, they told me that he can only bring back the person that "woke him up", so to say, which indeed was Jeremy. See, I don't know. But we shall find out TONIGHT.
