The backdoor pilot for "The Originals" was a lot better than I expected it to be. I wasn't expecting much, since I pretty much hate Klaus. But watching it, I began to look at his character from a different perspective.
I think the change of scenery helped a lot, and I've come to the conclusion that Klaus' potential is royally wasted on "The Vampire Diaries." I'm actually starting to think this spinoff might be a good idea after all.

Tonight's episode, for me, was the best in a long while. Probably one of, if not the best of the season. I actually got pretty emotional during the scenes with Matt and Elena. Matt getting killed and her reaction was great. Reminds me how useful Matt can actually be. I knew there was a reason why they were keeping him around. lol Also, when Caroline is trying to bring her mother back. Kinda tore me up, because I really didn't want her to have to go through a loss like that. I don't even really like or dislike Sheriff Forbes, but the thought of Caroline losing her is enough for me to NOT want her dead, if that makes any sense. LOL Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this all comes to a head in the season finale. I'm wondering if they'll resolve this "Silas" thing, or bring him back for season five. I particularly don't find this whole ordeal that interesting, but we'll have to wait and see.

I agree, it was a very strong episode. Firstly, Joseph Morgan plays the best Silas so far. And Silas's true face is disturbing from what we've seen. I do wonder if what he's told everyone about his plan to die is actually true. If he dies in the finale, fair enough. But if he is a multi-season villain, he probably has something bigger up his sleeve.
Elena turning her humanity back on was a pretty powerful scene for a character I don't care for anymore. And Damon killing Matt really shocked me. Shame about the ring though. If anybody needs to die its Matt. And April.
So, Katherine is teaming up with Bonnie and Elena is planning on killing Katherine. For a character who's been missing for the majority of the season, she certainly knows how to get in the middle of everything quickly.
It's taken the whole season, but I've finally got into the story. Last episode didn't help, with New Orleans looking far more interesting than Mystic Falls ever has. Silas seems like a true villain at last. I just hope the writers keep him that way. And I just knew that Headstone would come back into play eventually.

"Graduation Day" OH MY GOD! What a finale, the Damon/Elena/Stephan triangle finally came to a head, Jeremy is alive, as soon as everyone started to vanish and he gasped I knew it! I'm so happy to have Jeremy back, he was always one of my favorites, the other was Matt. I am sad Bonnie is dead, but like she said hopefully she sticks around as a ghost.
Speaking of big ends, Klaus returned and somewhat redeemed himself by letting Tyler return to Mystic Falls, all though I think a bigger gesture would of been bringing him to his graduation since it was what Mrs. Lockwood wanted most. Not that I'm thrilled Tyler will be back.
I was surprised by the Matt/Rebekah story seeing is how I expected to see her leave with Klaus, since she's supposed to star in "The Originals."
Katherine becoming human was a great twist, I knew the writers were really pushing for Damon the whole season, and I'm glad they made it Katherine. Especially seeing how the only other person who hated being human the most beside's Damon, was Katherine.
Finally, Our Angelesque ending with Stephan being locked in a box and thrown into the bottom of the quarry, and discovering he was also a Doppelganger just blew my mind, I think it will be fun to watch Paul play his own dual role next season!"

She's dead. At last. Finally. The witch is dead! YES!
Everyone knows that I hate Bonnie and so this episode was a gift from God. Anyway, onto other things...
It was like Guest Star: The Episode. Largest cast of any episode by far, I'd say. It was so good seeing Lexi and Alaric again. Every moment with them was gold. It was sad for the the Salvatore brothers watching their best friends disappear.
So Jeremy is back.... whatever. Tyler on the other hand... goddamn it. Please don't come back. Please....
Okay lets get to the two big moments between the doppelgangers.
Firstly Elena and Katherine. Seeing Katherine throwing Elena around was so satisfying. And Katherine as a human? What a way to turn the tables. That's going to be brilliant come season 5.
And then there's the final scene. Holy shit. Stefan is another doppelganger? That came out of literally nowhere. I don't know how to feel about it. Although that Angel ending was bullshit. But it's going to be so good watching Silas next season.
Second best finale so far, just behind season 1's I'd say. For the first time, I'm actually looking forward to season 5.
I'm left with one thought. What if Tatia wasn't the originator of the Petrova Doppelganger line? It was always strange that Esther used Tatia's blood unless she was already a Doppleganger. My theory is Silas's human lover was THE original Doppleganger. Not sure how but this show could work it somehow.

Vampire Diaries for me, is one of the shows I watch when it comes out on DVD - thats how I watched Season 1 and 2, and finally 3, although, like with Season 4, I read up weekely on the developments, so know all about Jeremy dying, Elena turning off her humanity, and Bonnie descending into darker magics. I originally liked Bonnie, but for me, she wasn't the same after Season 1 - she had the charm of being a novice witch at first, making mistakes, but then suddenly, she's Super-Witch out of nowhere. In Season 2, she annoyed me because she was all judgy about Caroline being a vampire and killing someone, having conviniently forgotten the only reason she WAS a vampire was because she was one of the ones arguing Damon should give her his blood! Season 3, she only got worse, when she got all whiny about Jeremy being haunted by his dead girlfriends - hello, woman, that's YOUR FAULT as well! How can you moan about his giving Anna a final kiss considering the way they were torn apart?! I honestly hope she moves onto the hereafter and finds peace, after they finally defeat Silas SOMEHOW, because I think she's done all she can, she was becoming TOO convinient. I'm also a little disappointed that they DIDN'T kill Katherine - I was hoping the show down would be something akin to the novels, where Elena sacrifices herself to destroy Katherine, but then they use the cure to save her from a final death. With Elena now a vampire, Katherine is a glimpse at just how far Elena herself might fall one day, so I suppose that's why they're keeping her around - plus the fact that Klaus now has ANOTHER doppleganger to fall back on (especially if "The Originals" doesn't last more then a single season, and they bring him back to the parent show), Katherine might find herself in quite a scary place.

Not the biggest fan of the finale. I was seriously hoping for Elena to just be done with the triangle, and be done with the Salvatore brothers, and in choosing Damon, I feel like it not only gave more life to this triangle but it was set up in a way that was like, "well, we know its not going to work out, but we're going to waste time trying to see if it ever can." As well as that, I don't like how the cure was just palmed off to Katherine. I was seriously hoping it would shake up things for the main characters, like if Stefan, Caroline, Damon, or Klaus, or Rebekah was forced to take it, what kind of complications that would bring about. But no, it was used on Katherine who will probably be in about 6-10 episodes next season, and she'll probably be turned into a vampire in the end again anyway, so I don't know. I'm going in with little expectations for how that plays out, buuuuut, if I'm surprised, I can't really complain.
As for Caroline... I like how Klaus said he intends to be her last love, and that he'll wait for however long that may take, kind of bookending that relationship to allow Caroline and Tyler to play out on their terms. Not looking forward to him returning, but I'm hoping Season Five FINALLY gives us his death. Pleeeeease. Hahaha.
Jeremy is back... even though I have no idea what he brings to the show anymore.
As for Bonnie- she was one of the things I loved about the episode. I love the concept of this veil being dropped and allowing her to have one last day with her friends, and share that with everyone. Her final scene in the episode was heartbreaking, and I just love the evolution of her character, and how she always puts the needs of everyone before her own. Loved when she threatened Katherine, like... ugh. It was epic. Anyway, looking forward to see what they do with her next season.
Stefan/Silas... I don't even know what to say about that. Did NOT see it coming, and that was a pretty cool twist. As for him getting buried at the bottom of the ocean in a coffin or whatnot... yeah, Julie Plec isn't really being that original nowadays. First the "Klaus has a child?!" twist, and now this? *facepalm*

Honestly, I haven't given The Vampire Diaries much thought since the season 4 finale, but I'm glad it's coming back tonight. If not just to give me something new to watch. Some things I'm looking forward to:
- Silas/Stefan - Human Katherine - Jeremy stuff, I guess. I mean... he was great at one point, then the writers kicked him out of town for no good reason.
And yeah, that's kinda it. Those are the characters I think I'll be invested in. Caroline and Bonnie were two of my favorite characters once, and they still would be, if the writers actually cared about them. Bonnie will probably get more of her own story now that she's dead, which is really messed up in itself. And Caroline's character has been so reduced, I'm not even sure what her role in the show is anymore. I hope this season changes that, because I would really love to get invested with them more. Not being used as plot devices, damsels in distress, or just completely entangled in love stories. I think they're better than that.
I guess the big thing last season was Damon and Elena finally getting together properly, and I just don't care. Not because I dislike them, I simply just couldn't care less about the romantic side of things anymore. I probably wouldn't care if she had ended up with Stefan either.
Anyway, I haven't been following any spoilers on the new season, so I haven't got the slightest idea of what it's about. I know Elena and Caroline are in college, that's about it. We shall see tonight.

How many times has Damon given a speech to Elena about how bad of a person he is?
Oh right, too many.

I've just completely blocked their relationship out. I've pretty much decided to block out every romantic pairing on this show, except for Stefan/Katherine, which was pretty cool, but short lived.

I feel exactly the same way. I would honestly rather Elena go back to dating neither one of the Salvatores and being a free agent again. At least that was somewhat interesting. They seem to end every single relationship I actually enjoy, though, HAHAHA!

At least the whole Bonnie and Jeremy relationship is more believable now. I swear, when it was first introduced, their chemistry was laughable.

I've just grown tied of Jeremy, honestly. I don't know why, maybe it's because I can never get invested in his storylines. It was interesting when he had the hunter's mark, I guess, but even then I didn't care that much. Caroline is still being underutilized this season for some reason, and I am enjoying the whole Augustine storyline, as well as Katherine's search for immortality again. This season isn't necessarily bad, I've just grown tired of some of the characters. Hopefully that'll change, though!

Can somebody explain why Bonnie is still around? It's well known I've never liked her, but I have understood the role she played. The anti-vampire character, the character that critised the actions of others, even if she got very irritating about it. But at this point, that's long gone. Just like her powers and her personality and any point she has in the show. They spend the first quarter of the season going on about how Bonnie needs to get back, and as soon as she does she stops appearing. I was hoping her storyline this season would be accepting that she's dead and finally moving on, but nope. Why do characters like Alaric and Lexi and Kol, hell even Jenna, get to stay dead but for her and Jeremy death is just a minor inconvenience?
Caroline never had much to do post season 2, much like Tyler, yet she always remained likeable. She does need a storyline that doesn't include love interests even if she has extreme chemistry with them. Expand on the idea that she loves being a vampire. Give her and Katherine more screentime, they made a good team.
And does anybody else find it funny that Tyler has had a bigger role on The Originals than here where he's still credited as a lead?
The character work this season has been atrocious, aside from Stefan and Katherine. I don't think Elena even has personality anymore. I'm still confused at Elena's latest reaction to murder considering how little she's cared in the past few seasons. It's very obvious they're focused entirely on The Originals, which is good because that show is excellent. On par with season 3, which remains my favourite season of this show.

The Originals has definitely become the better of the two, which really caught me by surprise.

I don't know, this season has been pretty okay, I guess I'm also bored of Damon and Elena, there the new Lois and Clark, good build up but boring once they actually get into a relationship. I think my favorite part of this season so far has been Katherine watching her struggle as a human and not be able to turn off her emotions as easily, like when she went back to help Jeremy save Matt, and her struggle with her inevitable aging. a small little part of me is dissapointed she's going for Stefan, she has so much more chemistry with Steven and Zack, but I guess it would be weird if her and Jeremy hooked up, or even her and Matt considering her daughter hooked up with him in Rome.
I think it was mentioned earlier if it was I love how the first half of the season was "oh god I'm dead" than it was oh okay let's bring back Bonnie, she comes back does one episode, and hasn't appeared since. So it's like when she's actually dead she's always around and when she's live she's actually not there.
I also have been rather enjoying the Original's it's shaping up well, I'm not a big Klaus fan but I do love Elijah, Haley and Rebekah which is mostly why I've been watching. I've put it on the back burner after Michael's first appearance but it's something I will be marathoning.

This last episode was amazing until Tyler Lockwood decided to show up to a party no one invited him to.
